NBA Finals - Celtics vs. Lakers

don't worry, the series doesn't start until a team wins on the road.

fine with me...boston has more home games left...maybe LA needs to get to the hoop more...remember..they didn't shoot many FT against the spurs either...bottomline is LA's defense is not strong and rondo is eating it up..i do think LA wins game 3 because the FT's will be slanted toward them but i think boston has a great shot at getting one of the 3 games...

and lets put the LA has a better bench talk to rest...

Well, against the Spurs, neither team shot many free throws. The big rant about that series was the Kobe shot 1 free throw through the first 4 games.

Attention Fans of any team other than Boston:

1) Do not say that any team has a better player than the weakest player on the Celtics, hell, their coach could outshoot your best guy.
2) Regardless of your opinion, Pierce is seriously injured, it's a story for the ages that he can walk today.
3) Saying anything good about the Lakers will get Buckeyeinfla to come at you with piss and fire.
4) The lakers rebounding in game 1 is an excuse.
5) The refs in game 2 is an excuse.
6) And if the Lakers score 30 points at home in game 3, the refs are out to screw Boston.

That is all.

Sorry, I think Leon Powe just got fouled again.

Celtics hold off furious Lakers' comeback

By TOM WITHERS
AP Sports Writer
BOSTON ? Kobe Bryant couldn't take it anymore, so he took it out on his teammates.
With Game 2, and perhaps Los Angeles' season slipping away, the league's MVP looked around the huddle and used some harsh words to fire up the Lakers.
They responded, dug deep and made a remarkable comeback that fell short. Now they have to make a bigger one.
Trailing Boston by 24 points with less than 8 minutes left, the Lakers got within two before losing 108-102 on Sunday night to the Boston Celtics, who are heading out West feeling a little lucky to have a 2-0 lead in the NBA finals.
Only three teams ? Boston in 1969, Portland in 1977 and Miami in 2006 ? have overcome an 0-2 deficit to win the title. With the next three games on their home floor, where they haven't lost since March 28, Bryant thinks the Lakers can become No. 4.
"We've come too far to really sweat being down 2-0," said Bryant, who scored 13 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter. "We're going to go home and handle our business."
That's what the Celtics did ? barely.

Celtics halfway to 17th NBA title Furious 4th-quarter rally by Lakers falls just short in Game 2
By Tom Withers
Associated Press

Published on Monday, Jun 09, 2008
BOSTON: Banner No. 17 is halfway to the rafters. The Boston Celtics are two wins from another NBA championship.
And maybe a little lucky to be there.
Paul Pierce, darting around the parquet floor with ease, scored 28 points, the Celtics' defense mobbed Kobe Bryant long enough and unknown Leon Powe scored 21 points as the Celtics held off a remarkable Los Angeles Lakers rally for a 108-102 win on Sunday night. The Celtics have a 2-0 lead in these trip-down-memory-lane NBA Finals.
The Celtics had to work every second to get the win.
The Lakers trailed by 24 with less than 8 minutes to go, but pulled to 104-102 on two free throws by Bryant with 38.4 seconds left. But Pierce made
two free throws, then blocked a jumper by Sasha Vujacic, and James Posey made two free throws with 12.6 seconds left to ice it for the Celtics.

You picked them to win game 3 not because they play better at home, you picked them because you said the refs would help them.

i do think LA wins game 3 because the FT's will be slanted toward them

i picked them to win game 3 because i am assuming LA has a little pride and will be so desperate to win that they will get one...and it is that way in every NBA game..home team usually gets the calls...esp. now with jackson yacking away....but i said all along boston in six....still feel that way.....

Well, I don't really blame Phil for being pissed, 38-10 is a pretty large difference, especially if you watched the game and saw fouls that were out in the open and should have been called, like Rondo grabbing Gasols arm, pulling it to the side and knocking the ball out. I am not going to say "that's why they won" because I am not really that type of person, but I can understand the coaches frustrations.

Going back to L.A. for the next 3 games and I see Boston winning one of them and coming back home to finish it off.

As far as the fouls being called, just wait till Tuesday night and things will change as for some reason, the home team always gets the calls so forth.

Kobe's third fould was one of the worst I've ever seen--he brushes by Pierce, who is setting a pick, barely makes contact, and Pierce of course flops to the floor like he got run over by a Mack truck. Pierce's patented move of throwing his read back as if he got punched in the jaw every time he is dribbling the ball and someone comes within two feet of making contact with him is also getting old. That dude is the biggest flopper in the NBA. The NBA is quickly allowing itself to become as flop-friendly as soccer.
