NBA Finals - Celtics vs. Lakers

It's not about "look, I was right". Hell, the series isn't even over.

What baffles me is how "everyone" ignored the entire regular season AND two more playoff series wins after the Atlanta series, and focused only on the Atlanta series to draw conclusions about Boston. It didn't make any sense to me before this series, and I said so then, and it doesn't make sense now.

Maybe 100+ games are more of a trend than a couple poor ones a month ago in Atlanta?

Well, it is human nature, and a lot of people remember that 2004 Lakers team that dominated the regular season, strolled through half the playoffs then fell apart, they were just old, and it showed. People thought the same of the Celtics, I said at the beginning of this series, if they play like they did in the regular season this could be over in 4-5.

However, that being said, I still think the Lakers are playing stupid, like they bought into the hype, and have just fallen apart, so I don't think the series is over, but I do think the Lakers may have made a mountain that could be too large for them to climb.

As a Celtics fan, did you go "What the hell?" during the Atlanta series?

No way. I distinctly remember it being "what the fuck?" during the Atlanta series. (Going "what the fuck" right now, too!) :pissed:

Honestly, I didn't expect to sweep the Hawks because they finished the season strong after the Bibby trade despite their overall record. But I didn't think it would go seven games, either.

This is starting to remind me of game five versus Detroit. Boston almost pissed away a big lead in the 4th quarter of that one, seemingly taking their foot off the gas before it was over.

Still plenty of time left with the 24 second shot clock.

Like I was saying. :pissed:

Damn thing is down to 4. If the Celts piss this one away it could be the series.

Hold a team to 59 points in 3 quarters and give up 43 in the 4th because you THINK the game is over, and start standing around on defense.

That's fucking inexcusable, especially in the Finals.

Heh, well, not even I imagined the Lakers would put 7 threes down in the fourth quarter.

Observations after game 2:

Well, Pao played much better, they Lakers did better under the rim. However, I still can't figure out, who, in their right mind leaves Allen or Pierce open. Sure, they did a better job on Garnett, but still, missed assignments was a huge issue tonight. Also, the turnovers, something that was a major focus this year, just went to hell.

The Lakers need to drive the paint. Whether you get in foul trouble or get the Celtics in foul trouble, it's a risk they are going to have to take. This is a chance you are going to have to take, at this point the Celtics are plugging up the paint, so you either have to charge and hope they move, hit them so they want to move next time, or draw the blocking foul.

Rondo and Powe played amazing games tonight, my hats off to the player I thought would be a liability tonight (Rondo) and someone who I never thought would have an effect on this series (Powe).

I think the fourth quarter tonight gave the lakers some energy to take into LA. The outside shooters actually managed to make shots. The Celtics are making Kobes nights very difficult, but he can still have a huge effect, and he needs to realize this. Look, if 3 people are coming at the guy, then there's gotta be a couple guys open, find the open shooter and take advantage.

I am sure I will have more thoughts after a day to think about it, my hats off to the Celtics defense, the Lakers need to defend their home court.

We'll see what happens, try not to be too hungover tomorrow Celtics fans.

They should just call this shit the "Boston Referee Party".

Leave the sour grapes for the boonesfarm. Pat Riley always had a coaching philosophy, start every road game like you are down 10 points, that was to count for the refs, this Lakers team doesn't have Riley, but they still need to play with that idea in their mind.

The home team gets advantages, that's why when you win more games, you get to play more games at home.
