NBA Discussion (Official Thread)

Come on players you know you are giving up too much to the owners. You can get a better deal than this and you know it. Work the legal process and see where it takes you. (next year)

I wonder what extra the owners gave up from last time? A deli tray for the meeting?

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski

Chinese teams have shown no inclination to let Kenyon Martin, Wilson Chandler, JR Smith, Etc., out of contracts, sources tell Y! Sports.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski

They all signed agreements that they would have to play in China until season ends in March. They can't sign NBA contracts without releases.

If strategy becomes to make themselves problems there -- or In Smith's case, a bigger problem -- teams can fine, suspend them, without pay.
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski

As official says: "They can play, get paid (in China), and return to NBA in March. Or they can not get paid, and return to NBA in March."
WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski

The NBA's a member of FIBA, and it abides by international contracts signed by players. Players and agents knew that when they signed deals.
The only thing about it that makes me sad is that LeBronze isn't stuck in Harbin laying bricks.

I was reading some comments on the agreement reached....the owners folded like a $2 whore...no hard cap, no salary roll backs, no change in the mle ...the luxury tax is suppose to be harsher but I didn't see it in the language of he deal...fuck the NBA

the MLE is changed for teams over the luxury tax line. that's a pretty big difference for the major market teams.

there was never going to be a hard cap. never.

the salary rollbacks will be inherent in the new BRI calculation.

make no mistake, it was always about the money. the owners are getting a lot more of it. they got as many concessions on system issues as they could pry from the players without destroying the entire season to the point it wouldn't be profitable to them. the players' union got beaten like rented mules in this deal.

basically, there will be no more superfriends of southbeach type teams anymore. it will be too cost prohibitive and too difficult to surround them with adequate filler. miami basically has at most a 2 year window, but even that is dicey and 100% predicated on Wade staying abnormally healthy.

I could get used to a zero game NBA season that never starts.

This.

I only opened this thread because I want to know how the new agreement will impact the college game. Apparently that issue is not yet resolved.

Is there still a chance the deal might fall thru?

ok so u guys dont like the NBA...cool...i am happy they finally got things settled...i am looking forward to watching Irving and Tristan play for the cavs, no matter how bad the cavs will be this year...and its a good thing the lockout didnt go all year...the draft would of probably been how the NHL did a few years ago taking a teams past 3 seasons to go on as their record...cavs would of had like the 22nd pick...not something we can afford right now...and i love playing fantasy basketball....i would imagine this age limit thing gets resolved soon...i havent heard what either side is pushing for but i would imagine the owners and NCAA would like to see it go up to a 2-and-done type rule
