Game Thread Navy 27, at tOSU 31 (Sep 5th, ESPN)

not sure if your aware, but we ran the exact same play on 3rd and 2 gaining exactly 0 yrds... not sure why you would expect a different result the second time.

very aware.

You should be able to tell Navy the snap count and what gap you are running to and get 1 yard. Not being able to do it twice was the capper to my frustration with the Ol today.

With all due respect to Duane...he can go fuck himself. Boom delivered the hit every fucking time there was contact today. He got low, he hits the hole running. More than once today I saw him knock someone bigger backwards. If you don't think Boom has the potential to be special, you've got your fucking head shoved so far up your ass you have to yawn to get a hair cut.

With some of the comments I've seen around the net today I wonder how many college football fans realize that Russell is a Safety and not a Corner or of they do realize that he is a Safety that Safeties don't normally man up. It just makes me laugh and makes me think of the old saying:

"It's better for someone to think you're dumb rather than opening your mouth and removing all doubt."

I've just seen him getting shots left and right and he doesn't deserve any of it. He's a FREE SAFETY and 9 times out of 10 his job is to play center field. I'll say he can't cover man-to-man worth jack, but he's pretty darn good in zone coverage. He's a fantastic athlete and is the right guy for the position.

I think Boom is a very good back, and will be a great player over the next couple of years, but I wouldnt call him special. Special is Clarrett, Wells, and George.

I disagree with Duane's assessment because I saw a lot of potential out of Boom today by breaking some big plays, pounding the inside, and playing hard. I'll admit I was more impressed with Saine today (which shocked me), but Boom looked good.

I just wouldnt go as far as saying he will be special. A special player is someone we could completely rely on in the big game. I think a combination of Pryor/Boom is deadly, but if it was just Boom then I dont see him carrying this team on his shoulders.

I know what special means. Thanks tho.

I'm sure Duane saw Eddie fumble three times vs Illinois his freshman year and thought "now that kid is special!". :roll1:

The point is, he may not be special now, but to say you see no possiblity of him being special is bullshit. I'm not saying he WILL be, just that if someone spews this shit now, I'll be sure to remind them when he's fucking up D's his senior year.

Even more entertaining is the fact that he's "not sure" about Saine, but knows that Boom doesn't have "it". Give me a fucking break.

that isn't really the point, at least the point I am making. You can be macho in the 1st, 2nd, even third quarter and prove a point. Tressel utilized AWFUL game management by not taking a 3 possession lead. The result of that AWFUL game management was a game that almost went to OT. It was a no-brainer and I think he'd even admit that at this point....I'm not sure what the hell they were thinking...

When you can close a win, you do it. 4th and an inch, and you still kick that field goal. It wins the game....

on the long td... free safety or no, when you undercut a route like that with no help over the top your going balls deep. you either make the play or you give up 6. he didn't commit to the ball or the receiver. coleman did something similar only he committed to the ball and he had deep help if the pass was completed.

the td in the 3rd. he actually had pretty decent coverage on that one. it was a solid route and an excellent throw. ts & gonzo mopped up many a safety with variations of that route.

he does struggle with pass coverage, but he wouldn't be the first safety thats for sure. i don't think he had that bad of a game. its just his mistakes were a little more costly then anyone elses.

I predicted a 10-3 season this summer and nothing I saw today changed my feeling. I'm more than a little frustrated we're still seeing some of the same issues on the OL. If that gets fixed, this can be a very good team. If it's just gonna be more of the same up front, they're gonna drop a couple. It's a young team with a lot of turnover at key positions, I always thought that lofty preseason ranking was a bit much. I guess we'll see where they really are in about a week.

There was a lot of good, but also quite a bit of bad. I'm not going into next week with the warm fuzzy I hoped to have, but who knows, maybe this was just respecting an opponent too much and a buttoned up playbook. I love the talent on this team, but there are still things that worry me.

I don't ever want to hear that Ohio State isn't ESPN's darling

Am I missing something or did the Dispatch make an error on Sundays paper:

BuckeyeXtra - The Columbus Dispatch : Scarlet & Gray Matter

Numbers for dummies

4: Catches by Ohio State tight ends, proving that hell can freeze over

5: Honorary dotters of the "i," including John Glenn (yesterday), Bob Hope, Woody Hayes, Jack Nicklaus and James "Buster" Douglas

9-1: Terrelle Pryor's record as a starting QB

I thought that Dr. Paul Droste, Novice Fawcett, Dr. E. Gordon Gee, and Robert Ries dotted the "i" as well?

This well sums up my feelings.

BUT, it wasn't buttoned up play calling that caused our problems. The OL doesn't perform poorly due to that, nor the missed (well nearly missed) assignments on defense.

I really hope to see a different team next week.
