Name, Image, & Likeness (NIL) at tOSU

Any Columbus brands jumped on sponsoring all athletes? Like a guarantee? Think I saw Runza is doing that for Nebraska.

Obviously have to look at return and Corn has fewer varsity athletes…but advertising as the first “proud supporter of ALL Buckeye athletes” (even a minimal amount) would be pretty nice.

Yeah that's who... It's disgusting to me what people can make off of just advertising.

Imagine that tho... 275k and I bet she didnt even have to draft the post or actually post it herself. Lesson for our kids though is Jenner had to pay back 90k because of her part in influencing kids to attend this botched festival. Our kids should do their due diligence in finding out what it is they're promoting or who they're associating with.
I wonder what happens with Mertz and Wisconsin and his logo being so similar to another brand. Is he open to lawsuit?

Forgive if this has been addressed, does anyone have a take on whether athletes will be compensated for jersey/merch sales with a specific player's name on it?

Obviously, this is nothing for most players but Olave and Fields could be looking at a nice cut.

The issue is: players cannot use the school logo, only their likeness, for NIL ads...... at least as I've seen it..... without "involving" (cutting in) the school.

It follows that the school wouldn't be able to use the player's name without "involving" (cutting in) the player.

Is this "blanket covered" via the scholarship agreement or are the blood sucking weasel lawyers going to get involved?

…are the blood sucking weasel lawyers going to get involved?

You can remove all context from this question and answer yes. Always.

I would bet dollars to donuts (in the pre-inflation meaning of the term) that Ohio State’s legal team is preparing for a variety of arbitration and litigation as this goes forward.

A question I have is, will schools be allowed to provide lawyers for their players who get sued by blood sucking lawyers.

As one of the BKBs, I feel like I should know this one, but alas; I’ll have to let one of his other personalities field it

If schools aren’t allowed to provide lawyers, the entire football team (they should not bring other athletes into it; they have different interests) would be well advised to get a large, high-powered firm on retainer, collectively.
