That's 2 in a row for Team Zissou.

In a close, 24-20 win, Zissou held off a late drive by Zona to seal their second win of the season.

The game was closer than it should have been, my backup RB had a 25 scamper to the endzone, but fumbled as he was diving in. Zona stopped us twice when I was inside the 5 going for it on 4th (once, my reliable TE dropped a wide open TD over the middle).

We were down most of the game, but a solid running attack mounted the comeback. Took about 3 minutes off the clock late in the 4th, punted from our own 50 with 1:30 left pinning Zona back to their own 1 with 2 TOs left.

1st down, incomplete. 2nd down, they went for a screen... I sent an outside blitzer to blow it up, the ball went right for my LB who jumped, didnt get the INT, "missed" a tackle for a safety, my DB "missed" a tackle at the 2, and Zona's RB ended up with a 20 yd gain. A couple big plays and Zona has a drive going, getting on our end of the field. 30 seconds left, they are in the redzone w/ no TOs left. 12 seconds left they have the ball 2nd down from the 12 yd line. We run a quarter cover 3 on, take a DE out in coverage, the QB gets the throw off with about 5 seconds left over the middle, the WR catches the ball with 3 guys around him (including my DE), the DE makes the tackle at the 1... 1 second left, clock runs out.

Big win! Bunch of recruits at the game, hopefully get some commits out of that one.

2-4.

I'm damn proud of the toughness my boys showed out there. Bama looked ready to run away with this thing early in the first, with our offense sputtering and their offense walking all over us for 17 early points.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAniQPPZrjQ"]YouTube - 1stmiamihelpless[/ame]

That was our offense for the first 3-4 drives.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sb2Y5h3K_Lc"]YouTube - bamaunstoppable[/ame]

Even when we got to the QB & WR, it didn't matter early on.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ys-l1Wci3Wg"]YouTube - bamatd[/ame]

They were a machine....

Townsend helped change our fortune to end the first quarter. We had just punted after a 4th straight 3 and out and Bama had all of the momentum in the world. He jumped an out route and took it back for six, totally changing the complexion of that game.

On the ensuing drive, true frosh LB Jeff Lucas blitzed on 3rd & 2 and got just enough pressure to stop an easy first down pass to the FB.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kRd6Y91fu-4"]YouTube - sack[/ame]

Our offense was finally starting to feel it. We pounded the rock with Washington, and when the defense finally had enough, we went playaction over the top to Champagne. 14-17.

Our defense faced another 3rd & short. Star RB Ingram caught the ball underneath the coverage but The Shark lit him up, jarring the ball loose. Beamen found Champagne over the middle for 6. 21-17.

Our defense would force another stop, and after another good drive by Beamen, Martinez our fullback punched it in for 6. 28-17 with 0:22 left.

Saban got desperate and rather than run out the clock, he took a chance. That blew up in his face as The Shark picked it off with just seconds left. The SEC is not a gentleman's league, ladies and gentlemen... so I didn't settle for a FG. We went deep to Sanderson for a score with 9 seconds left. 35-17 at halftime.

Beamen was just getting started, however. On the opening play after halftime and kickoff, Beamen raced 81 yards for the score, juking #30 out of his jock and pride en route.

Chris Jones came up with a huge 3rd down stop while Bama was in scoring territory, sacking them for an 8 yard loss... and Bama settled for a FG.

Bama would not go away quietly, cutting the score to 2 tds a few times with their playmakers (Jones, Ingram)... but our boys answered back with a TD each time, and an extra one at the end just for good measure.

Final score: 63-32

Beamen 16-29 227 yds 5 td 0 int 6 rush 96 yds 1 td

Ya know it's not often you see a team rebound like our boys did against Virginia Tech. My hat goes off to coach Beamer and his boys, they played a hell of a game. However our boys came out with just enough effort. I was really impressed with how Gaston came in for Darnell and really stepped it up running for 150 yards and a score. Of course Alvin Mack, our main man lit up the Hokies for 10 tackles I think, one for loss. Now we're gonna get to work on preparing for TC Williams, these guys are a lot better than their record shows, and it'll be up to myself and the staff to prepare our men for battle.

Paul Crewe entrenched himself as the Heisman favorite after a dominant performance vs the Permian Panthers.

555 yds passing, 6 td 1 int... 55 yds rush 1 td. 5 WRs caught 4 or more balls with Deacon Moss finally breaking out with a huge game.

Once again we came out of the gate slow. As great as Paul has played, he continues to make boneheaded decisions that lead to defensive scores. Permian started the scoring with an early pick-6. I liked how our guys answered after that unfortunate mishap with a great drive to even the score after 1.

The 2nd started off with each team trading possessions, but with under 3 minutes to go in the half Paul capped off a great drive to put us on top for the first time in the game. I think we let our guard down a little just before the half and that led to a one play, 59 yard TD pass. Being the heisman candidate that he is, Paul Crewe got in the face of his teammates and led them on another quick scoring bomb to his backfield mate Meggett to put us up 21-14 at the break.

That momentum at the half really propelled us in the 3rd where we played near flawless football outscoring Permian 24-7 to break the game wide open.

Permian tried to rally in the 4th with two TDs and 2 2-point conversions, but Paul Crewe really stepped up and answered their rally with scoring drives of our own.

We are disappointed in giving up 37 points, but will take the 59-37 victory over a good Permian squad and look forward to our next challenge.

My quest to humiliate the classless is still going according to schedule. Saban at least has hardware to his name, though.

We scored, 6, 15, 20 & 31 points in successive quarters, UM scored 0 points after the first 10 min, despite Barwis!!111!!!1!! Final score 72-14.

Let's take a look back at this massacre.

On the opening drive, Tate Forcier had a learning experience.

mich_01_minor.jpg

Minor answered quick with a 50 yard scamper of his own. He was a beast today.

mich_84_td.jpg

After trading a few punts, Beamen went deep to Champagne for a 68 yd TD.

mich_84_td_150937.jpg

With 0:16 left before the half, Emilien was reminded why he should have been a buckeye.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_URjb9OB0w"]YouTube - mich leonlett[/ame]

Early in the 3rd, Miami's DT intercepts a pass, gets cocky and misses the TD by 1 yd.

mich_03_td.jpg

After forcing a punt, Washington punks the hapless Brown on a 59 yd TD run.

mich_03_boston.jpg

Later that quarter, Champagne pays homage to David Boston and still scored.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mSOH8dHQqE"]YouTube - mich messing[/ame]

At this point, it looked like they were just out to embarrass them. Mouton whiffed twice!

mich_04_td.jpg

Washington broke yet another tackle for a 14 yard touchdown run.

When you're done up north, Coach, we sure miss you in the Backyard Brawl. Looks like you've taken your choking game to a new level.

...so my final point I'd like to make about corn is this... always remember, corn today, corn tomorrow... especially at my age.

So I guess we won the last 2 games. I know we're supposed to give updates after each game, but I'm an old man and I'm set in my ways. And by "my ways" of course I mean that I'm lazy.

Oh well, I barely remember some of our last game, so I'll talk about that one.

First, I want to point out that I was pretty darned ticked off because it was scheduled during my nap time. So I can't be held responsible for any thing that might have happened.

Anyways, my grumpyness might have led to the blitz package we implemented against Virginia this week. Long story short, we knocked their starting QB out of the game and held their star running back in check.

Stan Taylor proved once again that he likes to treat everyone equally, as threw as many INTs as he did TDs. Unfortunately this trend seems to be rubbing off on our backup QB, Bart Simpson, as he did the same. And while teams have been better able to contain Ned Flanders running game, he still continues to find his way into the promised land, 2 rushing and 1 receiving this week.

And on the last play of the game, one of Ned's sons took a short pass 77 yards for a score. Mr. Kirk Herbstreit admonished me for running up the score. And for him I just have 2 words: prune juice. I don't mean that as a rebuttal of any type, I'd just like for him, or anyone really, to get me a glass of prune juice. I really need one.

How in the world can someone pass for so many yards? The only thing I can pass anymore are kidney stones.

Another ugly week for Team Zissou. The winning "streak" was halted after 2 games.

7-7 end of 1, back and forth. Then my team decided to quit. I would have cover 3 zones with 4 guys in the area, and ASU's WR would magically come down with it, break 3 tackles and score.

Down 41-21 at half, force a fumble on the kickoff... First play from scrimmage, 15yd run, dos Santos fumbles, and ASU returns it for a TD.

Add the fact that my WRs refused to catch balls in the end zone, I was down a bunch.

Then the line quit playing, and the pick 6's started coming in.

Will get pics/vids for next weeks game.

Damn my nephew can't catch a break. He worked his but off to come back from his previous injury. Now this?

Congratulations to Coach Gaines and the Panthers on their big win over the Buffaloes.
