I'm damn proud of the toughness my boys showed out there. Bama looked ready to run away with this thing early in the first, with our offense sputtering and their offense walking all over us for 17 early points.

That was our offense for the first 3-4 drives.

Even when we got to the QB & WR, it didn't matter early on.

They were a machine....
Townsend helped change our fortune to end the first quarter. We had just punted after a 4th straight 3 and out and Bama had all of the momentum in the world. He jumped an out route and took it back for six, totally changing the complexion of that game.
On the ensuing drive, true frosh LB Jeff Lucas blitzed on 3rd & 2 and got just enough pressure to stop an easy first down pass to the FB.

Our offense was finally starting to feel it. We pounded the rock with Washington, and when the defense finally had enough, we went playaction over the top to Champagne. 14-17.
Our defense faced another 3rd & short. Star RB Ingram caught the ball underneath the coverage but The Shark lit him up, jarring the ball loose. Beamen found Champagne over the middle for 6. 21-17.
Our defense would force another stop, and after another good drive by Beamen, Martinez our fullback punched it in for 6. 28-17 with 0:22 left.
Saban got desperate and rather than run out the clock, he took a chance. That blew up in his face as The Shark picked it off with just seconds left. The SEC is not a gentleman's league, ladies and gentlemen... so I didn't settle for a FG. We went deep to Sanderson for a score with 9 seconds left. 35-17 at halftime.
