Movie Team Dynasty Report

First let me start off with some very unfortunate news. As many of you may already we have lost Boobie Miles for the rest of the season. He has suffered a ruptured disc in his back. The whole team was excited to see him step back on the field and show the world he should have been mentioned with the other Heisman Candidates. I wish him the best of luck and for a speedy recovery. Some team in the NFL is going to get one heck of a player when he gets drafted next spring.

Now for that outstanding performance against #10 Colorado. I'll give a recap of the game and then give my thoughts on it.

1st Quarter
We started off very poorly when we gave up a huge 53 yard run to the RB Scott on their first drive.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y61sPOHRsFo"]YouTube - 53yd rush by D Scott[/ame]

Winchell and the boys promptly responded with a long drive where Comer and Miles were getting over 5 yards a carry. It ended with a TD pass to Bean

At the start of our second drive my heart immediately sank when Miles hurt his back. I thought the drive was over when the Comer fumbled the ball, but the replay system proved that he was down before the ball came out. A few plays later Winchell was in the endzone for his first time of the day after a 4 yard scamper.

Score: 14-7 Permian

2nd Quarter
With about 2 minutes left Colorado got on the board again with yet another Scott rushing TD, but they would miss their PAT.

Colorado would get the ball back again before the quarter would run out. They used their hurry up offense to march down the field and scored another TD on a Hawkins TD to WR McKnight.

Score: 20-14 Colorado

1st Half Stats
Colorado: 60 yards rushing 2 TD, 14 of 16 for 209 yards passing and 1 TD. TOP: 5:02
Permian: 106 rushing yards and 1 TD, 6 of 8 for 52 yards passing and 1 TD. TOP: 8:58

3rd Quarter

Both teams started the quarter off slowly with a few stalled drives ending in punts. With :18 left Winchell was at it again when he hit Collins deep over the middle for 50 yards.

Score: 21-20 Permian

4th Quarter

Colorado started the quarter quickly with a TD pass from Hawkins to WR Smith. They would complete their 2pt attempt, putting them back up by 7.

Two plays latter Winchell had answer for them. He hit a wide open Comer over the middle and he out ran both safeties and took the pass 59 yds for a TD to tie the game up at 28.
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGCpr4cA_eo"]YouTube - M Winchell pass to C Comer for 59yds[/ame]

A couple of minutes(4:16 left) later Winchell found our TE Bean for a 51 yard pass. The drive would stall when Winchell barely missed Morris over the middle.

The defense would come up huge and get us the ball back quickly(2:37 left). Benson and company were huge in the second half, getting in Hawkins face quite often.

In about 30 seconds Winchell had that MOJO yet again. He threw the ball right through the safeties hands and Bean caught it and out ran everyone for a 66 yard game winning TD.

The defense would seal the win with about :56 to go after stopping Colorado on 4th down. Benson came up huge on second down when he tackled Scott(RB) for a 2 yard loss after we gave up 5 yards on first down.

I thought my team played very well today. The offense could have rolled up and died when Miles went down, but they kept chugging along. Winchell was huge for us today, he came up with big play after big play in the second half. Comer and Fiero(RB) kept pounding away at the defense all game long and eventually tired them out. Which opened up our Play Action passing game for Winchell.

After our defense started off slowly in the first quarter they settled in and focused on stopping the running game. They gave up a 53 yard scamper to Scott to start the game, but only allowed 59 yards total for the game. Hawkins was virtually unstoppable at QB with his robo like skills and he through for damn near 450 yards. Towards the end of the game I called on Defense time and time again, pleading them too give us just one more stop and a chance for the offense to score. In which they did so and they eventually sealed the win when they stopped Colorado on that 4th down attempt with under a minute to go.

Mean Machine 63
Baylor 31

Offensive MVP: QB Paul Crewe 25/48 5tds 4ints, 16 rushes for 102yds 2tds
Defensive MVP: DE Prisoner Taft 9 tackles, 4 tfl, 4 sacks

After getting out to a quick 14-0 lead, Baylor settled in and made it a 21-17 game late in the 2nd. The wheels started to come off the wagon for the Bears with 22 seconds left when Heisman favorite Paul Crewe quickly drove us down the field and hit his favorite target wide open...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXzAHNS4WRg"]YouTube - Paul Crewe to Baby Face Bob[/ame]

Instead of just running the clock out to get to the half Baylor drove down the field and attempted a 57 yard kick as time expired...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkY4ZQ2ymC8"]YouTube - Meggetts returns missed FG 109 yards for the TD[/ame]

giving the Mean Machine a 35-17 lead at the break.

Paul Crewe wasted no time in the 3rd connecting with Deacon Moss 13 seconds in...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHOS2uJqzAA"]YouTube - Crewe to Moss for 72yds[/ame]

After Baylor answered with a score of their own and an interception by Paul, the Mean Machine defense got in the scoring action...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLmGmnGAdxE"]YouTube - Pick-6 for Steal[/ame]

near the end of the 3rd to give the home team the 49-24 lead.

The 4th was just for stats and that was no more evident than this unsportsmanlike, yet perfect, TD with 25 seconds left in the game from Paul Crewe...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5EomCCWZ2dE"]YouTube - Crewe to Wright[/ame]

Happy with the way our guys performed for the most part, but Paul's 4ints are directly related to the OLine letting him get hit as he was trying to throw. That definitely needs to be corrected.

Photos will accompany videos of our next game.

West Canaan put up outrageous statistics again, but for the second consecutive week, they came up just short given the caliber of win turned in by our chosen MVP:

Coach D'Amato;1515149; said:
With the game in limbo late, our freshman linebacker stepped up big time to seal the win. It got a little out of control after that, but Eastern State put up a hell of a fight. Don't let that final score fool you, they are a handful.
Due to some technical difficulties with our equipment, we were unable to show postgame highlights. Our technicians have been hard at work and have managed to recover a few clips from the corrupted video.

Here was our pontiac game-changing performance for week 1, with true freshman linebacker Chris Jones intercepting a pass on 4th & 1, late in the 4th quarter. ESU would have taken the lead with a TD on that drive.

The red-hot SCLSU Muddogs, fresh off their upset @ #1 Florida, continued their brutal road trip against the #7 Miami Sharks.

On the opening play, SCLSU's monstrous LBs knocked Miami's star RB Washington out of the game.

owens_stop.jpg

Unphased, Beamen led Miami downfield. TO caught a slant route for big yardage, and nearly hurdled his way for 6. This would prove to be a huge play.

SCLSU stuffed Miami twice on the ground, setting up 3rd & 5, when Beamen threw his way to the 1 yard line. SCLSU's defense buckled down, and held Miami to -1 yards on 3 rushes including a sneak, ending with a tipped pass at the LOS on 4th down.

Grenouille had an awful start, throwing right to the MLB who drops it, and throwing up a duck to a LB, who also dropped it (the latter would've been an easy 6). SCLSU sliced up the Miami defense with a balanced attack, even after star RB Bugge was injured for the game (a little retribution for Washington). In scoring position, Miami dialed up the blitz and pressured Grenouille into a costly pick.

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ER_acuJkjDk"]YouTube - 1st qtr jones int[/ame]

Butkus candidate Chris Jones nearly broke it for a touchdown. This was another game-changing tackle. SCLSU's defense buckled down and forced Miami to kick a 51 yard field goal. 3-0 Miami.

SCLSU continues to slice up Miami's defense, punching it in on the ground to go up with 4 minutes left. 7-3 SCLSU.

Miami rallied, driving the field with a precision passing attack, converting on 4th down. Beamen throws it down to the 10 yard line, but the play comes back on one of four flags thrown for OL holding after the ball was caught downfield. On the next play, with only seconds remaining, Beamen spotted a WR with a step on the DB. He releases the pass calmly...

[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQSJb9eCOpg"]YouTube - 2nd qtr pick6[/ame]

Not only does the DB step in front of the WR, but somehow he returns it from the middle of the field for 6 points, despite a half dozen blue shirts surrounding him. 14-3 SCLSU.

Miami's freshman safety stepped up big after halftime. SCLSU was driving downfield again (they began chewing the clock with 14 min remaining). Grenouille completed an underneath pass for a first down...

3rd_qtr_ff.jpg

...when their receiver was detonated after the catch. Miami scooped up the fumble and returned it to about the 35.

willingham_td.jpg

Beamen kept things rolling on the ensuing play, throwing for a play action TD. 14-10 Miami.

On the ensuing drive, a coverage mistake costs Miami big time. Trying to send the blitzing DE around the edge, a late switch is accidentally made to the LB in coverage (see the blitzer around the right edge). Grenouille completes the wide open pass to the fullback:

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXMB8lp89Y0]YouTube - 3rd qtr TD[/ame]

Who broke a tackle, and ran uninhibited through a pancake tackle thrown right at his feet. 21-10 SCLSU.

Miami drove to midfield, but got stuffed on 3rd & short. They went for it on 4th down:

4thdown.jpg

Beamen threw to their speed back in the flats.

4thdowna.jpg

Who has to get to the 43 & 1/2 yard line. He tried to spin a split second before this shot...

4thdownb.jpg

But instead the back barrels straight ahead, coming up micrometers short of the first down.

SCLSU's Grenouille throws up another duck under pressure, which was dropped again. SCLSU goes for the fake FG and does not convert.

Miami faces another 4th and short, has a man wide open down the right sideline...

[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6SD6QrJQw_8]YouTube - 3rd qtr 4th stop[/ame]

But the OL makes like a turnstile and causes the INT instead of a touchdown. SCLSU is held to a 51 yard FG. 24-10 SCLSU 6:28 4th.

Miami drives to the 30, picks up another 1st down through the air, and is flagged after the catch yet again for holding. Beamen would try to rally, rollout and throw to a WR with a step on a deep slant route. But like the first half...

4th_qtr_int.jpg

The DB steps in front to seal the win. 3 min left.

SCLSU tries to run out the clock, but on 3rd down, Grenouille hurdles right into a hit stick. The ball pops free, lies on the ground for 3 seconds near 3 defenders, and an OL runs up and scoops it up.

Later in the quarter, Grenouille rolls out on 3rd down, jump passes while getting crushed, and throws a jump ball into triple coverage for a first down. :lol:

Miami's last drive started with a holding penalty. They would still make a late effort to score but come up about 35 yards short.

Final score: 27-10

Well that was damn infuriating, but just as disappointing. Infuriating because those yellow hankies flew five different times after the play had moved to a different part of the field. I don't know how many drives we started facing long distance early on. We're playing at home, and we get blown out in the zebra department. Unless I fucking missed something, those were supposed to be SEC refs.

Disappointing because we were that close to winning. We were in position to go into halftime up 10-7, or at worst 6-7 after a chipshot FG. The refs take away Beamen's first down with a flag. He was absolutely livid on the sidelines. Then he makes a good read over the middle for big yards and their DB channels Deion Sanders, breaking on the ball and somehow bringing it back for 6.

That was a 10-14 point swing. We had 3 separate passes towards the endzone that ended with turnovers. Completely unacceptable.

SCLSU probably outplayed us today, and definitely deserved to win, it would just be nice to have the penalties called a little more evenly. With as much as our QBs move around out there, there's a lot of holding to be called. Let the kids play or call an even game, particularly in our home field. We were virtually dead even in yardage, but the penalties and turnovers (two which came after flag-reversing first downs) were the difference today.

Allenville & Zissou should be very grateful to the muddogs. That performance probably locked up Robinson & Gibbs for their respective schools. As if Allenville needs any more good fortune :roll1:

Wow! What a win for Team Zissou!

Upsetting the #25 Orygun Ducks by 3.

The game started out as usual, and looked to be a standard blowout down 17-3 at the end of 1... stupid pick 6 to the DL... and my 2nd string QB got knocked out.

Luckily my 2 RBs stepped up huge, with dos Santos going for 70+ for a TD. And my backup RB filling in at QB in the wildcat.

Orygun was down 10 with 1:30 left, got a 30yd pass on 4th and 10 from their 15, and ended up scoring. But we were able to hold them off for the 3rd W of the year.

Now someone commit to the Jaguar Sharks!

Once again our defense steps up and carries this team. I don't know why all of you keep asking to interview Steamin' Beamen. Willie has all the talent in the world, but his heisman race will come next year. Chris Jones, despite his age, is the best player I've seen this year.

Auburn scored 23 unanswered points on us. We came up short again on 4th down early in the 4th. Jones steps up like he does every game and gets a huge sack & safety. That made it a 6 point game, gave us the ball back, and a huge swing of momentum. Of course, we'd spoil it on the next drive - Beamen threw behind an open Washington on 4th who proceeds to drop it :bonk:. The defense rises up again, holds them to an improbable FG attempt, and seals the win after the offense finally scores (after a 14 minute drought spanning 3 quarters).

We've got a lot to work on during this bye week, Kiffen & Miles will have something special up their sleeves. You can count on that.

But at the end of the day, a win is a win. Late in the season and we still have a chance to win the division. You can't ask for more than that.

Let's take a look back at this game, shall we?

After stopping Miami on downs at midfield on 4th down, Kodi Burns throws for a 42 yd TD. 0-7 Auburn, 4:22 1st

Beamen answers with a 68 yard strike of his own to Sanderson. 7-7, 3:38 1st

After forcing Auburn to punt, Washington starts rumbling. Breaks a tackle after 5, another after 10, after 45, wrestles free after 55 but falls 2 yards short. 68 yard run sets up Beamen for a QB run. 14-7 Miami, 2:13 1st

Three punts and two FGs by Auburn. 14-13 Miami, 2nd qtr 4:36.

Beamen finds Champagne deep for an 80 yard strike. 21-13 Miami, 4:06 2nd.

Beamen beats the safety to the corner for a 13 yard option run. 28-13, 1:53 2nd.

Auburn's WR is stopped as time expires, but a bogus roughing the passer call gives Auburn another down, and they hit the FG. 28-16 at the half.
