Kimbo Slice signs for his boxing debut

Kimbo Slice’s long awaited boxing debut will finally happen on Aug. 13 in Miami, Oklahoma, as the one-time street fighter turns to the sweet science.

Under Gary Shaw Productions and Tony Holden Promotions, Slice will make his professional debut in a four-round main event fight at the Buffalo Run Casino.

After making his name in street fight videos that gained millions of views on YouTube, Slice took a shot at mixed martial arts with varied results. Following his exit from the UFC last year, Slice took some time off to spend with family, film a movie, and let his body recover from years of athletic competition, but now he’s ready to get back in the ring.

Chael Sonnen to fight Brian Stann

Middleweight contender Chael Sonnen, who came within minutes of defeating champion Anderson Silva last August, returns to action against fast-rising Brian Stann, the UFC announced Thursday on its website.

According to the UFC, Sonnen and Stann have verbally agreed to the fight. They are scheduled to meet at UFC 136 in October.

"Anytime I can fight somebody of the stature and has had the kind of career of a guy like Chael Sonnen, I'm excited," Stann told ESPN.com. "He's ranked No. 2 in the world at middleweight, and deservingly so, and he's the guy who gave Anderson Silva the fight of his life.

"I told the UFC I wanted to fight the best and this is the person they gave me."

Tito Ortiz vs. Rashad Evans at UFC 133

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Tito Ortiz has agreed to replace the injured Phil Davis and face Rashad Evans in the main event at UFC 133, scheduled for August 6 in Philadelphia.

News of the replacement broke via UFC president Dana White's Twitter account Tuesday afternoon.

"Get ready [Philadelphia] for Rashad Evans vs. Tito Ortiz," White wrote.

Ortiz also confirmed the matchup to ESPN.com.

"Rashad is a great opponent. I've got my hands full," Ortiz said. "It's going to be a challenge, but I'm taking it in full stride and making the best of it. My emotions right now are to get into the gym and start training again."

Evans told ESPN.com's Franklin McNeil that he feels good about the fight, despite the sudden change.

He's a replacement for Machida. Lyoto was looking for Anderson Silva type money for this main event, and when he wasn't going to get it (deservedly so) he backed out like a bitch. So now it's Tito's fight. Nothing but respect for Tito stepping up.

Nobody I hate more in MMA than Ortiz and I mean nobody. My new 2nd place is Lesnar.

I think Ortiz is the biggest fraud D-Bag there ever lived. Dude wins 1 fight in 5 years and people think he is great again....good grief.

He was flat out SCARED to fight the Ice Man. What little respect there was for him was gone after that.

I'd like to take that flag he carries and stick him in the eye with the pole and wrap his dead body in the material.
