Yea I don't even know what to say about it. I had shogun winning though, but I hate to taint this fight in any way. Those who haven't seen it should take the time to watch this one.

Has anyone ever survived a bigger beating than Rua in this fight? Incredible. And Rogan was totally clueless to Henderson gassing in this fight - he thought that shogun was gassing towards the end of the 2nd round - uh no, he was just on queer street. Hendo was gassing from throwing too many haymakers. Wouldn't be surprised if it's revealed that Hendo broke his hand in either the 2nd or 3rd round of this fight either. I was glad to see Hendo get the win, because he was the better fighter tonight - thought that shogun was effective only because Hendo punched himself out.

If anyone has, it's probably Dan. Dude is as tough as leather and he gives out a hell of a beatdown too.

I had the opportunity to sit down and talk with Ovince St. Preux for an hour the other day. This is the first time I have ever met the guy. Very intelligent and humble. I don't really follow MMA closely but after talking with him I did some research. Seems like he is an up and comer with Strikeforce. He has a fight against Gegard Mousasi scheduled for Dec. 17 on Showtime. I will definitely be pulling for OSP, as I am quite impressed by the guy.

For those of you who follow MMA closely, is anyone familiar with either fighter? What kind of shot does OSP have to win this fight? Gegard appears to be ranked much higher and has much more experience.

OSP has looked really good in the couple of fights in which I've seen him. Up and comer for sure. He will be the naturally stronger fighter than Mousasi. At one time I would have put Mousasi in the top ten pound-for-pound in the sport, but sometimes he gives a lackluster effort. He is very talented - good punches, kickes, and submissions. He will be a big favorite in the fight, but by no means is a guarantee over OSP. If Mousasi fights the way he did against a washed up Keith Jardine recently (draw), then OSP will win.

On another note, that Strikeforce card looks great. Only 4 fights, but they should all be really entertaining.

Agreed about Mousasi. Sometimes he looks like he doesn't even belong in a fight. I know he's super experienced, but i've heard from sherdoggers forever how great he is and imo he's not that good. I hope he gets ko'ed just to piss people off.

The fedor fight earlier this morning was extremely lackluster. It probably doesn't help that we got to see hendo/shogun last night, but monson doesn't belong in the same ring with fedor.

Well, I hope OSP can oblige you in your hope. I checked out a few youtube videos and OSP seems to have plenty of knockout power in his feet and hands.

Notable upcoming fights:

  • 12/10/11: UFC 140: Jones vs. Machida (Jones - Machida; Mir - Big Nog; Tito - Little Nog)

  • 12/17/11: Strikeforce: Melendez vs. Masvidal (Melendez - Masvidal* guaranteed violence alert; Mousasi - OSP; Noons - Evangelista; Cyborg - Hironaka) - Justin Wilcox fighting on the prelims here - he wrestled locally in Cincy at Oak Hills against some of my friends back in the day

  • 12/30/11: UFC 141: Lesnar vs. Overeem (Lesnar - Overeem to decide title contender, loser to fight Velasquez I think; Nate Diaz - Cerrone; Fitch-Hendricks)

  • 01/14/12: UFC 142: Aldo vs. Mendes in Rio (Aldo - Mendes; Belfort - Anthony Johnson* guaranteed violence alert; Erick Silva also on the card - if you've never seen him fight before, explosive young talent). Also really good prelims on this one, which will hopefully be on for free

  • 01/28/12: UFC on Fox 2: Evans vs. Davis (Rashad - Davis, likely for next title shot; Sonnen - Munoz, " ")

  • 02/04/12: UFC 143: GSP vs. Nick Diaz (GSP - Nick Diaz; Condit - Koscheck for the next shot)

  • 02/15/12: UFC on Fuel 1: Ellenberger vs. Sanchez (Ellenberger - Sanchez* guaranteed violence alert; Herman - Struve)
Also: Fedor will likely fight on new year's eve card called Fight for Japan against judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii. Tim Sylvia - Brett Rogers will also supposedly be on this card, with Rogers coming straight from serving his time in jail.

No word yet on when the Strikeforce Heavyweight grand prix will conclude, with Josh Barnett going up against Daniel Cormier - may be waiting on Cormier's broken hand to heal. Can't wait for Barnett to come in to the UFC heavyweight fold - he is a stylistic nightmare for most.

Still no word on Hector Lombard being brought into the UFC. At age 33, and riding a 22-fight win streak, I hope they bring him in sooner rather than later, as father time will not be on his side for much longer.

Really looking forward to this. Waiting for the WEC version of Aldo to show up.

Not sure where else to post this, so... have any of you seen mma headgear styled like Buckeye helmets? Got the idea from the helicopter helmet present thread. Alternatively, any ideas as to effectively coloring my standard black sparring heargear?

GSP out for most of 2012 with a torn acl. Nick Diaz will now take on Carlos Condit for the interim title. Mike Pierce steps in to take on Koscheck.

It's a shame that arguably the best pound-for-pounder is out with another major knee injury. The silver lining is that Diaz - Condit will be an entertaining affair, for however long it lasts.
