Minnesota Golden Gophers (official thread)

Antoine Winfield, Sr. weighs in. Hard for me to believe that he doesn't know if suspended son AW, Jr. had sex/raped the girl or not. I love AW, Sr., but he didn't impress me here. http://www.espn.com/video/clip?id=18293523

Nope. Threatening to send his kid to another school unless the university President is fired? Hope Minny laughs in his face. Guy needs to know his place on the food chain.

This shit, where the foosball players think they control the university, picked up steam after the Mizzou situation, and I hope Minnesota makes a firm statement in the other direction.

Pretty damn sure his kid knows if he unzipped or not. How many times do we see parents defending their offspring, regardless of guilt or innocence? Daddy showing up to bitch about the suspension does not impress me, either.

What legal obligation does the university have to provide information to parents? Not sure they have an entitlement to disclosure of privileged, private information.

I'm glad some dudes on buckeyeplanet decided a bunch of Minnesota players raped a girl with no evidence, and people that have actually looked at all the evidence have declared there was no evidence of rape.

Because we've never seen a girl lie about this thing ever. Every time one of these stories pops up it's the same song and dance. Some of you are as bad as PedU fans thinking police departments are really going to cover up rape for the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team

If there was evidence of this is the players would be charged. I'm not in favor of Universities imposing punishment for things the police have investigated and found nothing

A decision not to prosecute does not equate with a declaration of innocence. If the players all stick together and to their story what, in the absence of any other new shit coming to light, can the police and DA do? They have to try cases that they think they have a reasonable chance of winning.

And as others have noted, the university isn't bound by the same standard of guilt beyond a reasonable doubt as a criminal prosecution. If they decide that gangbanging a drunk girl and filming it is behavior that they won't tolerate at the University of Minnesota then good on them. Good on Minny for putting some basic human decency ahead of the foosball.

You mean like players trading their own items for tatoos? Not breaking the law, just the NCAA rules. How about plagiarism? Doubt if a sheriff will be banging on their door.

So have you seen the video to know that's actually what happened or are you just going to keep repeating your made up story?

Well, you can take it that way or you can consider that, as I do, their move is a pretty drastic reaction considering that they (the players) are also likely without all the information as well... and furthermore, the way they are handling things have a much further reach than this specific case.

From a precedence perspective, this will be very interesting to watch. I don't know who did or didn't do what... other than a bunch of players who had nothing to do with it making some pretty bold moves that could end very poorly for them and their school.

They know what I know, and that is there is no evidence that the players on their team did anything wrong as the case has been investigated fully by the police.
