Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

that is just as dumb as what you and your neighbors are doing.

OK, so the next time someone or something pisses you off, don't even think about contacting them, because it's just dumb. :roll1:

I admit I don't know about PETA killing animals, so I could be wrong. Lots of animal shelters also, sadly, kill animals. This is why I would only adopt from a no-kill shelter. I'm not involved with PETA and never will be.

My point was, PETA and other animal-rights activists have a right to protest, just as pro-Vick folks also have a right to protest.

Isn't that backwards though? I understand the support of that shelter, but why not adopt from a shelter that kills the animals so as to save one?

On a side note, how long until Archie comes under fire for his "size of the dog in the fight" quote?

Joke of course...

thats fine, they do have the right to protest, but why at the Falcons camp? Why not at the court where vick was? why not at his house?

i just dont understand your group of people (animal right groups).

Like i said, what vick did was wrong and he will get punished for it but why protest the falcons camp and harass the falcons fans? Is it just to get publicity?

Animal right groups? Are those like neo-con puppies? :p

Seriously, there are tons of animal rights groups that advocate different things. PETA is extreme. I don't go that far. I support the Humane Society, ASPCA, and animal rescue missions when disaster strikes (such as Katrina). What part of these organizations do you not understand? Remember that millions of Americans own pets, and we put a lot of money into them -- a very passionate group of consumers. Like I said, I would not be surprised that they had a large effect on Nike's decision.

As for animal groups killing unwanted animals, it's a difficult subject. Many animals will never be adopted, and perhaps it's not fair for them to live the rest of their lives and taking up space in a shelter. My mother was close to adopting a 9-year-old Golden, which nobody wanted since it's so old. However, it bit a few people over the weekend she was supposed to pick it up, and now it will definitely not be adopted. Perhaps it would be best to put it down. I think it's a case-by-case basis, but I choose to support no-kill shelters.

Anyway, this is getting a bit off topic. Sorry.

why not support a homeless shelter instead? help people out instead of the animals. I will always support a human life over an animal. I like my dog but he is a dog.

I may be late to this, but my understanding is that the feds are issuing a superceding indictment. If that is the case, look for tax evasion to be a part of the indictment. I have no inside knowledge but I am hearing a lot of talk about $ and where $ goes taxes are sure to follow. That would put Vick in quite a bit more trouble as fines and jail time would potentially skyrocket.
Talk of him getting off lightly as a "first time" felony offender would go bye bye.

I'm going to stick to my "wait until he's found guilty of something" stance before I think he should have to be punished. The media, whether it's intentional or not, is putting a bias on the stories. A story that makes it look as though Vick is guilty is going to get better ratings that one that says, "Nothing new to report" will. It looks bad for Vick, but it was this way for Ohio State only 4 years ago. With the way the story looks, only an old lady claiming to see some Dementors could save Harry Potter now. Let the case run its course, and punishments will be handed out accordingly.

Nice placement of the GPA, whoever did it. Excellent post by Zurp.

the thing that confuses me about vick and the whole dog fighting thing is no one in the falcons organization even suspected it.

I know when doing criminal acts you keep to your self but for people that he had spent a good deal of time with for the past 6 years for no one to even have a inclining that this was going on is a little odd.
