And with this ensd any and all fundraisers/donations for school field trips, little league uniforms, higher education, college athletics, and local politics. After all, we should always support a human life over causes that are not life or death. Of course, maybe the alternative is that our donations and charity don't always have to go to the highest causes, if such a thing exists.

Although siezing upon Sushi's error is a great way to distract the issue and all (with the bonus of an opportunity to downplay Vick's actions with this subtle "dogs are only animals" campaign), her point is right. The reason we care what Vick is doing and not PETA is that PETA's protesting (or euthanizing animals) isn't at all comparable to Vick's actions, legally or morally. And it isn't true that we don't care what PETA does. Go search the poli forum and you can find threads bashing PETA.

Some details on what Tony Taylor plans to reveal in a supporting summary of facts statement for prosecutors in this story about his plea agreement.

One of Michael Vick's codefendants pleaded guilty yesterday to his role in a dogfighting conspiracy he says was financed almost entirely by the Atlanta Falcons quarterback.
As part of a plea agreement, Tony Taylor pledged to fully cooperate with the government in its prosecution of Vick and two other men accused of running an interstate dogfighting enterprise known as "Bad Newz Kennels" on Vick's property in rural Surry County, Va.
"The 'Bad Newz Kennels' operation and gambling monies were almost exclusively funded by Vick," a summary of facts supporting the plea agreement and signed by Taylor states.
The plea deal requires Taylor to testify against Vick and his two remaining codefendants if called upon to do so. Taylor cannot get a stiffer sentence or face any new charges based on any new information he provides, according to terms of the agreement.
Additional charges are possible, however, against Vick and the other two. Federal prosecutors have said a superseding indictment will be issued in August.

With this plea agreement, I think that is enough for Goddell to suspend him for a year.
The best thing you could say about Vick is that he gave away his money to his friends and he had no idea they were running a dog fighting ring. And that still would be worthy of a lengthy suspension.

What other charges are possible as the result of Taylor's cooperation with federal prosecutors?

One of the admissions Taylor makes in his agreement with the government is that the kennel and the dogfighting were part of a "business enterprise." Vick and his lawyers do not want to hear about any "business enterprise." It could become the foundation for a racketeering charge in the new indictment to be filed next month. A racketeering charge would raise the stakes for Vick and the others. If they're convicted of racketeering, they could face stiffer prison sentences and forfeitures of anything they own. It was bad enough for Vick to have to defend himself against charges of a conspiracy that lasted for six years in five states. A racketeering charge would make it even more difficult for Vick and his five lawyers to mount a defense.

yeah things just went from real bad to worse for vick and the others.

I definitely think vick will see jail time. Probably 3-5 years.

Yeah, it's not looking too good for the guy, the worst thing that could happen would be one of the guys flip in hopes to get his sentence reduced. I think it's safe for the Falcons and NFL to step in and toss Vick for at least a year.

Just thought I would add this too, as a San Diego Chargers fan the Vick trade is starting to look like one of the best trades ever :biggrin:

It was already before this as Vick is a horrible QB who will never lead his team to the super bowl. that was established before all of this occurred.

yeah lewis avoid murder charges and jail time by pleading guilty to a misdemeanor and testifying against two co-defendants. he would have gotten more if he wouldnt have snitched.

dont get me wrong he was smart by snitching and pleading to a lesser crime.
