Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Source: Vick probe receiving increased attention from feds

Two law enforcement officials familiar with the investigation have told ESPN.com they believe there is sufficient evidence to indict Michael Vick in connection with a suspected dogfighting ring that was run on property the Falcons quarterback owned in Virginia.

The sources, however, cautioned this week that, based on the current evidence, it might be difficult to successfully prosecute Vick, who has denied knowledge of dog fighting at the property in Surry County.

"There is probably enough there to bring a bill [of indictment]," said one source, "but how some of [the evidence] would play out at trial, or if it even reached a trial ... I just don't know. These kinds of prosecutions are tough. There are some holes, definitely, and that's why [investigators] are digging for more information. You want more than just smoke. You're always looking for the smoking gun.

"I mean, what you think you know and what you know you know, and what you can prove to other people you know ... well, they aren't always the same. But this is a fluid thing, so we'll see where it goes."

On Wednesday, Surry County Commonwealth's Attorney Gerald G. Poindexter told ESPN that he recently received a call from a person whom he deemed credible, and that the informant gave him information regarding the ongoing investigation. Television station WAVY of Portsmouth, Va., reported Wednesday that informants have come forward who have said that they can link Vick to dogfighting.

I am done...You guys can believe what you want and I will believe what I want...You guys havent done have the following I have on the stroy, and if you have more power to you, but I am unable to do anything more with this discussion, it is pointless for me to try and preach to a choir that wants to crucify Vick...

I mean the article linked above, the main source was the person that was taken off the case for illegal activities...Yeah great source to believe...Then this post about stuff that is only about half true...Back some of this shit up please...
You are posting about things in this post that are maybe about half true...

Please read this thread, it brings so much light to the situation IMO...Look at the picture of the one dog...

Link

I guess I will leave you guys with this parting mark, don't believe everything you read and hear in the media...I thought you guys would of known that by now after the Clarett saga, but I guess not...

Disclaimer: I have never said that Vick is not involved, I am just merely pointing out that he is not as guilty as the media has made him out to be and yes there is still a large chance that he was not involved at all besides the fact that his name was on the property, and there is still a chance that there was never dog fighting going on at the property...

So let me get one thing straight, are you trying to argue that there simply isn't enough evidence to prove Vick guilty in the court of law, or that you simply don't believe he wasn't involved at all?

I could agree with you on the first one, but to say he hasn't been involved at all is just ridiculous.

The real world doesn't work like a court room. There's a huge difference between legal justice, and then using your brain to figure out something right in front of you. Going though all of the hoops and obstacles of a court room is quite a task, but using common sense and judgement is a completely different thing.

I mean look at Vick. Look at some of the things he has done, and some of the things his brother has done. I know you can't blame him for his brother's actions, but its not unreasonable to say that the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. Vick is a punk, and just another case of an overpaid athlete who thinks he is invincible and can get away with anything.

And you wonder why people are "out to get him".

the real question is does the nfl let the judicial process take its course or does emperor goodell come in and lay out his own law on the highest paid player in the league?

I think Goodell waits this out a bit, before he brings down the hammer.

Goodell would put himself in a precarious position, if say he were to come down harder on Vick right now, than, say, Tank Johnson. Sends mixed signals to give the same - or a worse - punishment to a guy who is just being investigated, when opposed to a guy who was convicted and actually did time in the slammer.

He can throw the book at Vick if his case goes to court, but to play NFL judge and juror this early would be foolish, if he under or over estimates the severity of Vick's involvement with dog fighting. So I have to believe the judicial system runs it's course, before Goodell steps in.
