Nike turns down request to sack Vick

PAUL NEWBERRY

Associated Press

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. - Nike has no plans to dump Michael Vick from its roster of celebrity athletes, turning aside a request from the national Humane Society to cut ties with the Atlanta Falcons quarterback over alleged ties to dogfighting.

Good for Nike. I personally think that Vick was involved, but until he's convicted, I don't see any reason them to back out of their contract. Well, maybe because he's just not a very good QB, but not for possibly doing something that hasn't been proven yet.

Chris Mortenson is reporting that the feds have told the NFL and/or the Falcons that Vick himself will probably not be indicted for dog fighting.

If that's true, evertbody will draw their own conclusion as to whether that means:

a - He's innocent
b - He's probably guilty but they can't build a credible case against him
c - He's guilty, but somebody's getting paid off to either take the fall for him, or to not prosecute
