Mike Vick (Pittsburgh Steelers)

Who gives a fuck. All I know is Vick hasn't improved as a QB in system where the QB's completition % is suppose to improve not get worse. So Vick gets no blame for a possible non-playoff season and his horrible passing display this season? Kordell Stewart made 2 AFC championship games in a tougher conference at the time then what the NFC was in 2004. The Falcons played 3 teams with winning records last season and beat an 8-8 Rams team in the playoffs that was #17 in total offense and #25 in points against.

playoff system regardless and they had to win their way through it

LOL, McNair and Brunell over Vick that is funny. Brunell won't even be a starter next year and McNair can't make it through a full game anymore. The guy is 25 cut him some slack. Vick has never came out and said "I'm the greatest QB in the NFL". The media hypes him because he attracts an audience. You put him behind the O-lines of the Steelers or the Seahawks and the results would be different. The Falcons can run block but me and 4 of you guys would be better pass protectors.

Now it is the age excuse. You guys are hilarious. Right now I would take McNair and Brunell over Vick any day of the week. Brunell and McNair have played better than Vick this season and have past success to back it up. McNair led the Titans to the Super Bowl in his 5th season and Brunell passed had a 58% clip and made it to the playoffs for the 3rd time in his 5th season. You put Vick with the Seahawks and he would still suck. They run the same west coast offense and Vick is one of the worst starting QB to ever to play in the west coast offense. I hate to break it to you but the Steelers offensive line has not played well this season. A rookie is starting at LT, Faneca still a pro bowler but not as good as last season, Hartings is done after this season, and Simmons has been absolutley pathetic at RG. Roethlisberger has been running for his life back there and can make big plays with his arm outside the pocket and in the pocket unlike Vick.

I know the Steelers line has struggled this year but compared to the Falcons line it's a Pro-bowl line. McNair led his team to the Super Bowl and Vick led his team to the NFC title game last year, not that big of a difference. McNair is done and Brunell has had some miserable weeks, not to mention that the Redskins are not guaranteed a play-off berth. I don't think the Redskins will make it and the Titans damn sure won't. So you would take two QB's that are for pretty much done over a 25 yr. old with unlimited potential? Good thing you aren't a GM.

 I think any player that never made it to a SB would disagree with you on this logic. Look at Elway, he was never really seen as a true "legend" until he actually WON a SB. I'm not in any way comparing Elway to Vick, or even saying they're in the same league, but that one win changes a lot about peoples perception of a QB.

Yes but McNair is a great comparison to Vick in that it shows what happens when you don't have the talent around you. He had George in the Backfield and great TE a good line, some nice recievers and on the other side there was a great defense. Now look at the titans. They still have the same QB but just not the same talent.

Another way to look at this is just cut and dry. The Falcons are a much better team with Vick as the QB. They had the number 4 pick b4 he came meaning they were the fourth worst team in the league. Since they picked him they have been to the playoffs 3 times once to the NFC championship game and another time beating Brett Farve at Lambeau field. The year he went down with the leg injury they totally suffered, and were one of the worst teams in the league once again. You guys disect this how you would like.

Also would you guys have rather had other QBs for our team in 02. Yeah Krenzel was the greatest QB but he brought other things to the table and we won with him. What is to say we have Big Ben as our QB and he throws 3 ints against scUM and they beat us. Yeah we had better stats for the year probably but no NC.

Age has nothing to do with this. Years in the league have more with this, he is in his 5th season. If I was a GM and I needed a QB on a possible playoff squad I would take Brunell and McNair (with backloaded contracts) over Vick. First off if I was GM I wouldn't have given Vick that ridiculous contract extension after his 3rd season. Yeah he has potential, I have heard it for 5 years. But he hasn't improved as a QB. Since I never gave Vick the huge contract and notice he has never improved, I would move him to the slash role next season and let Schaub develop. Still center my team around the running game letting Schaub develop with plenty of cap room to go after somebody like LeCharles Bentley, a 2 gap defensive tackle, a pass rushing DE, don't resign Duckett and maybe go after somebody like that Memphis RB in the draft and then draft Offensive linemen, a safety, and a OLB after that.

McNabb still has some good years left in him. McNabb and Vick were in similar situations coming out of college. Both were playmakers and had questions about accuracy. Vick hasn't improved his accuracy while McNabb has at least improved as a QB and his accuracy also. Both are in the same west coast offense. Vick has better wide outs, TE, RB, and FB then what McNabb had his 5th season after going to 3 straight NFCCG. McNabb has made 1 Super Bowl and 3 NFCCG games and on top of that has been to 5 straight pro bowls during that run.

Let's not forget about McNair. He is in the same boat as McNabb. Actually showed improvement year after year as a QB and then broke down because of his style. McNair will now have a 6th straight season of 60% completion %. Vick hasn't even been near that.

So are these guys better than Vick? Chris Chandler, Neil O'Donnell, Tony Eason, and Stan Humphries? They all led their teams to a Super Bowl. C'mon guys.

Its got nothing to do with a SB or not but I'd take Eason and O'Donnell to QB my team over Vick in a heartbeat.

I'd have to think about Humphries. He was solid till they scrambled his brains with one too many head shots.

Vick is an extremely mobile Dilfer. That one unique skill set won't last long in the NFL.
