Mike Leach (HC Mississippi State, a National Treasure, R.I.P.)

Mike Leach is offering dating advice during Q&A's again.

Leach then recalled taking his wife to A&W on their first date and using a 2-for-1 coupon book for it, which he recommended for others: “It worked for me. You’ll cut the weak out of the lineup right away if you do it that way. You’ll only be involved with committed people if they’re going to do the coupon book. It doesn’t hurt. If you’re just trying to dress your life up a little and pretend you have a relationship, then maybe you don’t want to use the coupon book if it’s some kind of a volume deal. But if you want to zero in on one or two, break out the coupon book, saw off the weak right off the top so you can get down the path to find the right one. It’s worked out pretty good, because I’ve been married … I can’t remember, a long time. 30 years or something.”

The Oregon coach is a douche, someone should tell him that the football games actually last a full 60 minutes. Oregon won 62-38 (by 24), what's he afraid of? If WSU scores again it is only a 17 point win and Oregon would lose "style points" in the polls.

Nick Aliotti 'stunned' by Mike Leach

Aliotti called it "low class" move by Washington State coach Mike Leach.

"I am kind of stunned he would keep his quarterback and crew in there,'' Aliotti told reporters after the Ducks' 62-38 win, according to The Oregonian. "And still he threw the ball with 20 seconds left. But he did.

.
"That's total (B.S.) that he threw the ball at the end of the game like he did,'' Aliotti said, referring to Leach. "And you can print that and you can send it to him, and he can comment, too. I think it's low class and it's (B.S.) to throw the ball when the game is completely over against our kids that are basically our scout team.''

I'm, truly, interested in Mike Leach's opinion on this. I'm sure it would be eloquent, and bizarre, and potentially off putting at the same time. He is one of the few coaches, of which, I am actually interested in hearing what he has to say.

I wouldn't ever complain about it to the media if I was a coach, but I've been pretty irritated at the little kids in the Big Ten that call timeouts just to ruin Ohio State's shutouts with under a minute to go.

Indiana 3-4 years ago (at IU) comes to mind. Purdue 6-7 years ago (at Purdue). Remember them specifically going after late scores harder than they had tried the entire game. Was pathetic, in my opinion.

Ha. If you want your shut-out, play defense for 60 minutes. There's no mercy rule after 58 minutes.

That's about the most pathetic thing I've heard from a defensive coordinator. "Waaa - they aren't happy with their beating and now they're doing something about it."

"I've been accused a time or two of running up the score. People say, 'Well, the game's already been decided. Just kneel on the ball and call it a day.' Screw that. I don't want the guys I send into the game thinking that way. next yar, those third team guys might be my starters. Heck, if we have an injury or two, they just might become our starters next week. Running a team is an ongoing process. Even if it's the last game of the year, you still have another one next season. Regardless of the score, you've spent a long time teaching technique and lifting weights, and if there's some number-three left guard in the game out there yucking it up, I will rip him.

I've never cared if somebody else thinks the job is done and the game is over. You wanna be unique? You wanna be special? I truly believe everything is preparing you for something else. Be a team. Be the most excited to play. Do your job. That doesn't stop you if you're down by 39 or up by 30. These are all valuable opportunities. You cannot just mail it in. How often do you get a chance to execute an onside kick? How many plays are you going to get in your whole life? It's all about making the most of it. This is an opportunity to get better, and every chance at getting better can help you down the road. The buses don't leave till the clock says 00:00. That means attitude and body language, and continuing to develop your skills until then."

Nuff said. Aliotti should buy the book if you want to know how the guy works.

There's also an interesting bit in the first couple chapters of him pissing on a dog.

Oregon's Nick Aliotti apologizes to Mike Leach, fined by Pac-12 anyway

Nick Aliotti apologized for calling Mike Leach 'low class.' (USATSI)
Oregon defensive coordinator Nick Aliotti made some ridiculous comments about Washington State coach Mike Leach following Oregon's 62-38 win over the Cougars. And Aliotti realizes how ridiculous his comments were, as he issued an apology for them on Sunday night.

Aliotti's apology was not enough for Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott, who announced a public reprimand and $5,000 fine for the Ducks' defensive coordinator on Monday. The Pac-12 acknowledged the apology, but said the punishment came as a result of the Washington State rant and previous comments from Aliotti about Pac-12 officials.

He probably had his fingers crossed when he apologized.:sneaky:

He'd better be paying attention in a couple of years when Leach has the Cougs where he wants them to be. When he's running up the score on Aliotti, he'll really be pissed. Trust me....we know.
