Michigan State Spartans (official thread)

But they do have 5 years in there with 0 or 1 loss: 2010, 2011, 2013, 2014, and 2015. That's 36-4 those 4 years. Outside of those 4 years, they're 62-79. That's crazy. 5 of 22 years they can win 90% of their games, but 17 of those years they go 0.440.

Dantonio capitalized on scUM being down and Urban recruiting nationally.
Tressel out Urban in was a big lift to the rest of the conference. The fence around Ohio went away, and the team who usually capitalizes on that was garbage.
Dantonio stepped up to be the primary beneficiary.

“Wanting to win a Natty” and “willing to do what is needed” are 2 different things.

You have to be fully committed to the cause on all levels.
You also have to come to terms with the fact that you are going to have some bad eggs or issues along the way. It is just part of the equation. And again you have to be OK with this. It is just part of it. It is not good or bad it is just a fact that when you bring in tons or 4-5 star entitled teenagers you are gonna have some make rather insanely dumb mistakes. And you have to know this and be OK.

OSU is the only place willing to try to actual accept and manage this equation.

It is literally like saying you like eggs but hate breaking the yolks. You are gonna break some yolks. Or as a hot dog guy said, listen there is no “humane” way to kill a cow it is a bad deal for them. I do jot think you can bring in the number of talented teenagers needed to win at a high rate and not have some yolks break. It is just part of it and you do your best to minimize and manage it but it is gonna happen.

SCum are too worried about managing their morally superior mantra. And PSU does not have the coaching and they do not land enough too flight talent to even make it interesting.

Listen having a great team every so often is not enough. You gotta put yourself in position or push to be there every single year because you will also need some luck most years.

I can not feel bad for him at all. I am assuming you are kidding.

He is an idiot. And if all the gossiping is even half true on ye olde Spartan message boards he was into way more shite. This was just the first thing they could go after him for and get rid of him and that horrible contract without costing them the balance of that horrible contract.

With all that said. It will never get old pointing out that he paid 70M+ for a 30 minute phone sex call that supposedly he was the only one participating. That it was just that sweet honey voice that was "setting him off". And that she was shocked and awed that he was spanking the monkey.

What I actually envision is this:

Her with her friend listen on speaker phone. He says he is spanking the monkey. She looks over at her friend and mouths silently "we got this recorded correct? Because I am now going to say I am shocked....." And after the call ends she is high fiving her friend about how they are about to get paid. But little does she know that old Mel is a narcissistic bastard and he will not be bullied into a hush money payment. And instead will go on record as saying he was spanking the monkey and who cares I am an adult and can do whatever I want. Thinking that no one will believe her and that everyone will have his back. This whole thing and his reaction to it all is something of legend and will be talked about for years if not decades.

Unfortunately, it is my beloved Spartans that will be dragged through the mud with him.....hehehehe it just makes me laugh since I am unable to cry

This. The next generation will have no ability to read body language resulting from zoom calls and online classes.

I know I'm late on this, but most of the classes I attended at Ohio State were not much more than a miserable teacher standing in front of a power point that they were reading from directly. It was fairly worthless. The only body language I read was "I don't want to be here." I actually had a professor once start the first day of class with "I don't want to be here any more than you guys do" and I was like... we are paying you. At least try?

I'm of the opinion that most GED courses not only could be taught online, but should be. Obviously, there are exceptions (lab stuff, group stuff, etc)

So, the unfortunate thing that you are saying is when I was paying $195 a quarter to go to Ohio State, the faculty was better by orders of magnitude. Sigh.

I will say.. the experience was drastically better when I was taking classes related to my major/minor. I also had some really good professors. But the majority of my first two years? Power points. And our group projects were power point presentations.
