Michigan State Spartans (official thread)

So that extension for Tucker wasn't a sound investment
raw
The decision also (seemingly) directly inspired Penn State to panic and extend Franklin. The gift that keeps on giving.

He didn't find another Kevin Walker. No surprise there. And the last time I recall associating Michigan State and Quarterbacking was either Earl Morral, or Kirk Gibson and Gibson was a receiver. Yeah, Kirk Cousins, but that MF spends more time whining than winning. Sparty reminds me of what used to be called a "Philly Boxer," tough guys who fought well in Philly, but always seemed to fall short outside the City of Brotherly Love. Scratch the beating we gave them in 21. They'll be tough at home this year.

Listen MSU is clearly at least 2 years away from being dangerous. Yes they can win games right now but not enough quality depth to win championships. I am still a buy on Tucker. He will either win big or flame out fabulously. But he will not settle. They are recruiting players that have NFL measurables. Maybe not at the same physical level yet but he is not bringing in a boat load of marginal size kids and hoping they play above their rankings. The area that they clearly have issues is Oline. I would suggest that it will be almost 10 years since MSU has had a plus unit up front. With last season being the closest.
You need to stack great classes year after year to become dangerous. And that does not guarantee success that just gives you the possibility of being consistently good/great. A great example is Texas A&M and having something like 54-4/5 star kids on their roster and yet get pounded by App State.

Also Tucker is only raiding the portal because he needs to have more quality depth.

The injuries are a problem but the real issue is lack of quality depth. Plus it seems like they are still struggling to execute this defense which is madness. You can not plan on zero injuries to be good or you truly are not that good.

Also any idea what time our game will be? I was really hoping 3:30 or 7 but many on our site think it will be the Big Noon Kickoff. I despise noon kickoffs. Horrible for tailgating and well drinking to be honest. Give me a nice 3:30 or 4 for perfection. The night games are nice but over 50 now and I tend to maybe struggle with consumption control in all areas if tailgating all day. Also the afternoon games lend themselves to a nice post game tailgate. Have a nice bite to eat and relax and let traffic clear before heading home. Great time to hydrate and get right.

Michigan State being described as “at least 2 years away from being dangerous” is like that “Free Beer Tomorrow” sign at my local brewery…

I'd prefer 3:30, too. I have something going on that morning and might not make it home by noon.

The earliest place to have the info is usually at the team's website, though sometimes 97.1 The Fan reports the information before you'll find it there.

You will find it HERE too, though that site (NCAA) is usually a little bit behind the team site. As I type this, the team site is showing BTN has the tv coverage for the Rutgers game while the ncaa site has the network as still TBA.

Though I would say the result of that Washington game has gone and determined it by now. Won't be ABC's game of the week any longer, lol
