Michigan chatter - 2005

Beat me to it, Dry Re: road wins... Otherwise a decent write up.
Heard a Detroit Free Press guy on 1460 yesterday who correctly noted that Breaston hasn't done much as a WR, I just don't get why people think Michigan's Wide Outs are "all that." Maybe I just am too hard on Avant, but I don't think he sees the field at Ohio State any more than Devon Lyons has. Manningham is a freshman, and as such I'll reserve judgment.

Huh. Never thought of that. (A terrorist, I ain't.)

Anyway, I understand the need for the searches, but I just don't understand why they would need to be informed ahead of time.

Regardless, and most importantly; 3-loss-llloyd is a whiny bitch. Oh, and scUM sucks.

Michigan's WRs are talented, though as a group they're certainly not up there with some of the great groups in UM history. A lot of this though is a result of Breaston's cold, Ginn-esque, head-scratching start to the season, and the lack of a solid running game isn't helping. UM has had injury problems this season, and as expected the losses of Bass and Edwards on offense really put things in a flux. Without Hart, UM was pretty one-dimensional for a large chunk of the season.

not sure I see much difference. Obviously Avant is the "go to guy" in an attack that runs the ball much more poorly than Texas... but other than that they look the same to me, if not deeper in Texas' favor.

um, if they are good enough to get away with smuggling something in, then they are going to do it other way. I seriously doubt the search declaration will be their motivation for bringing a bomb or something illegal into the stadium.

Haha, and GBW was telling us visiting buckeyes that Carr had moved on. Fat chance.

Hell, the only bombs the Buckeyes will bring to AA are those thrown by Troy Smith to Ginn, Gonzalez and Holmes.

:osu: :oh: :io:

And Dryden - you are right on the money I'm sure about Lllloyd giving and getting grief that day.

With each team realistically out of the at-large BCS process

Hmmm...maybe Michigan is out of it, but last time I checked Ohio State was ranked 7th in the BCS. I assume if they win, that they are going to get a hard look at a BCS at-large spot. Michigan sucks!

Talented, sure.... On the field production? I'm unimpressed. As I indicated, I'm a little hard on Avant, because as far as I can tell the guy has had 1 good game his entire career. I admit a lot of my feelings are clouded for the undue hype their corps got last year.

do you mean thus far? I don't think Texas has better WRs than UM.
Texas doesn't use their WRs as much as UM because the Longhorns have such a good running game, so the stats don't tell the whole story. From what I have watched of both teams though, if I were on the playground I'd be picking Pittman, Sweed or Taylor ahead of any of the UM receivers.

Each of them has made some sick acrobatic catches this season, and each has a TD reception of 40-yards or longer.

I think that's one of the poorer pieces of fact-checking I've seen from the crew at CFBnews.com.

Both the 'realistically out of the at-large BCS process' and 'traded road wins for the last two seasons' just jumped off the page to me.

I didn't really have a problem with the 'best receivers' comment, although it can be debated.
