Michigan chatter - 2005

Look, Carr isn't upset. He's just trying to criminalize Ohio State and get his players to feel that they were very "hard done by" and "need to get even".

If they detain us, then Tressel should be letting Carr know now that the team will go through its normal warm up and, if that screws up the TV schedule, then tough luck.

We need to bury these bastards from the first play.

Weather forecast and impact on The Game

Here's the updated forecast for AA on Saturday. It will be cold with only a slight chance of some rain. Which team does that help or hurt, and why?

I completely disagree.

I would think an OSU/ND game would have ratings that would rival the National Title game.

Agree completely.

I put it in another post somewhere but I'd make a v-wager OSU/ND would AT LEAST match the Rose Bowl game in TV ratings and even though the Rose Bowl holds more people at the actual game you will get a bigger influx of fans in general to the Fiesta with those 2 schools.

I think some are forgetting just how big a deal ND/OSU is due to ND's recent hard times. If I'm a Bowl rep and get a shot to make that game happen, its an absolute no brainer. Mega money, mega tv ratings, mega hype.

Only thing that makes me wonder if the other Bowls will let it happen is this; Assuming ND/OSU in the Fiesta then the Bowl who is looking to get stuck with an ACC vs BE game will be absolutely desperate to get one of those 2 teams, more than likely OSU.

Don't know which thread this is, but assuming it's about the Michigan game I would say that until the last two games I was fearful of going to Ann Arbor. With Pittman and the O-line finally showing signs of being able to run the ball I'm much more confident.

Hart worries me. If he runs like he did in the first half of last year's game the Bucks are in for a long afternoon. If OSU's D shuts him down, as they did the second half last year, Michigan is in for a long afternoon.

Hart's injuries, muscle pulls, are very slow to heal and very prone to re-injury. He seems to me to be the key to the game... with him Michigan keeps it close and has the chance to win... without him it could be a real rout.

I rank the receivers even. Give Michigan the nod at QB and RB, but give a nod to the Bucks' special teams and defense. Can the D-line put pressure on Henne? If so, no contest.

Now, if the thread is about the Bowls... the ESPN/ABC guys broached the Fiesta Bowl ND - OSU matchup. They seemed to thin k it was a distinct possibility. Till then I didn't see how it would ever happen. In one sense, if OSU beats Michigan, it creates a second bowl with as much TV power as the Rose. On the other, it takes two big TV draws and throws them together... i.e. You could put ND in one bowl and get a big market share and put OSU in the other and get a big share. IMO the TV and Bowl folks would probably rather see two games with that kind of draw instead of one.

Finally, if you're ND why would you want to play Miami or OSU? You look for the Big Least champ, beat the snot out of them and let others take the risk. You force Miami and OSU to play each other assuring a loss to one of the two teams that could beat you in the rankings and on the field. At 2 losses and a bowl win you will finish ahead of everyone but Texas and USC and if USC get's creamed (ala Okie last year) you might even finish in front of them. I think Alabama has one more loss. I think Auburn will beat them. Like the Big 12, all the power is in one division (I sure hope the Big 10 is paying attention! The last thing I want is a division set up and a conference playoff), with Auburn, LSU and 'bama in one and a crippled Georgia in the other.

Push.

It should favor the Buckeyes with the better, more consistent running game, better special teams, and as an added bonus miserable weather may take some of the bite out of the crowd.

On the downside, a slick football could be problems since Troy palms the ball and runs pretty loose. If Carr and Herrmann were smart they'd be teaching their D the uppercut-punch to try and create some turnovers. If Carr and Herrmann were smart, that is. :wink2:

I agree with your downside. Troy has had a history of fumbling and a wet ball won't help that. Scum's D is more physical than anyone OSU has faced since PSU. Rain will also hurt running the option. I give OSU the advantage in a ground war especially if Hart isn't 100%. Scum has to be able to throw the ball to have a chance to win. OSU can win without throwing the ball.

"I could see maybe busing to the stadium and them making us take a long way. And you get to the locker room a little late and you have to hurry to get dressed," he said. "Why not use those things to your advantage? I would."

Michigan has been doing this for years.

What did Michigan do to Indiana's team, shrink the area where they were allowed to warm-up in!

How about giving out tickets so that OSU fans are dispersed around the stadium.

Or Ann Arbor cops turning their backs as their fans get into players faces! Rumor has it some OSU people will document some things this year, God bless small cameras!
