Michigan Chatter - 2004

I love the way the team responded to the two TDs from scUM early in the game. It appeared they were going to completely outscore us but the offense kept firing and defense stepped up!

Today was as exciting for me as the '02 NC game.

Exactly my thoughts. This is the game that we will look back on next year and see how it paved the way for greater things to come. The O-line played crisp, Smith was near-flawless, and special teams were special. Defense was strong and did a pretty good job of creating havoc.

This game goes a long way in providing momentum into the bowl practices and into next season as well. It's huge.

This one is especially sweet, and especially important. It changes our entire perspective on this season and next. Much like '02, we will go in with a QB who knows he has what it takes to win the most important game on the schedule. It means that this team is aimed upward, and not down. They need to carry this through bowl season and into the bowl game.

Props to JT for adjusting - something many of us began to doubt that he could do

Well, maybe after this game, you guys won't forget anymore. We all just need to give ourselves over to the fact that he's smarter than we are, and that's why we don't always understand what's going on.

This year has been about preparing for next year. No way they learned that offense in one week. They worked on it from day one, but he didn't let it loose until his players were hungry enough to do it right. Sometimes you have to lose to win. Ironic but true.

Yeah...I got it after a few seconds. RB at first looks like running back not Rose Bowl. But fuck scUM and their Rose Bowl shit. And fuck Wisconsin those fuckers. All you gotta do is when one of your last 2 you fucking idiots. Now scUM goes to the Rose Bowl without even deserving it. scUM sucks. Yeah 3 Loss Lloyd is going to get his ass kicked against Cal. 9-3 again Carr. I hope you stay around for a LONG LONG TIME. 9-3 every year with losses to Ohio State is fine by me. Jim Tressel has brought this program back to where it should be. Wins against scUM and bowl wins as well.

Jim Tressel scUM + Bowl record: 5-2
John Cooper scUM + Bowl record: 5-18-1

Does that tell you something? Great coaches get their teams ready to play in big games...and get their teams to play their best football at the end of the season. That is Jim Tressel football.

JT...How much does he save back for this game?

He doesn't admit to doing anything different offensively in this game but I'm sure I saw things today that I hadn't seen all year.
Do they practice plays all year that they do not run until the scUM game or do they throw new stuff in during the week of practice?
Whatever the case, this is a coach that truly understands the importance that all of us put on this game and because of that understanding he is now 3-1 against that school up north.
Man, I'm love'in this!

Who'd have thunk...

...at the beginning of the season, that Troy Smith would be the starter against Michigan and end up with nearly 400 yards total offense?

...after the Iowa debacle, that we'd have any chance at beating Michigan?

...at any time this season, that we'd have 200+ yards running and ~250 yards passing and 30 offensive points against Michigan.
