Michigan Chatter - 2004

Probably the most impressive Michigan victory in a very long time. For once the offense provided some excitement. Instead of watching three and outs, I watched entertaining 99 and 97 yard drives. FWIW, nothing IMO can ever match, as far as jubilation goes, the championship victory over the unbeatable Hurricanes. I just cannot say enough of the how everyone stepped up to make this one of my favorite games to I have ever witnessed.

Florida vs. Florida State is close and Flordia has the ball with just a TD lead and a few minutes left...AND the FSU fans aren't even half as loud as we were today. I've been to a lot of different stadiums, and we were by far the loudest place that I've ever seen today!

I want to know if other regulars have ever heard it that loud in the shoe.

I was there right above the end zone, and everyone was screaming before every michigan play no matter where they were on the field. We not only built some serious confidence and momentum going into next year's UM game (which could be a stepping stone to another NC), but we landed some serious recruits this year. Mo Wells is a top 5 back, and he was here, and there's no way he doesn't realize he can be the missing link in an outstanding offense next year.

I was at the UM game in 01 when the 6-4 bucks beat that team, and I am not convinced they are as loud as they say they are. I think the same fans in both stadiums would be loudest there since its a bowl (upper deck can't be quite as loud). They were silent while they were getting blown out 23-0 in the first half. But once Wells got hurt and they made a comeback, the crowd was loud but not deafening (like Penn State).

Justin Zwick should transfer, cuz Smith has just locked up the spot for good. I have no problem with him transferring either, cuz he's a great team player, and is not going to get a chance here at OSU. And the kid had no running game or Ginn to rely on. If you put him on the 2002 offense with that back I bet he does pretty well. Best wishes on your transfer Zwick. Tho we'd love for you to stick around.

Other than that, Michigan never had a chance in this game. The crowd would be deafening 15-20 seconds before they would start the 25 second clock for the play, so they couldn't even hear each other before they broke the huddle. It was a truly amazing sight.

One gripe tho: Hamby?!!! Are you freaking kidding me? 3 motion penalties? That was absurd.

JZ is in a strange situation. If he transfers, he'll only get 1 year at the school he transfers to. He'd also have to win the job there too. If he goes 1AA, he gets 2 years, I guess he could hook up with Irizarry or Hiley if he wants. His best option may to just stick around as a Mcmullen-esque backup (who had the same early struggles as Justin). The problem is Boeckman may pass him on the depth chart.

I loved the game today - but 2002 was sweeter because it meant so much for us.
My thoughts exactly. In the 90's those weasels kept us from NC too many times. I felt that the game in 2002 was like sticking a stake in dracula's heart. But today's win was very very sweet also.

too hard to compare the two.... 02 meant so much, it was like getting the monkey off our back. After all this team has been through this year it was a huge win and will be a very nice building block going into a bowl game and into next year.

"I want to know if other regulars have ever heard it that loud in the shoe."

I think '95 Notre Dame was still louder. I mean tonight was incredible! I ended up landing FREE club seats from a relative who was unable to go at the last minute. Sitting on the 20 rows up on the 45 yard line at tonights game was an experience I'll never forget!

The stadium did rock and my voice is now just a gravelly mush of intelligible grunts, but I don't have the pain in my ears that I did after the 95 Notre Dame game.

I'd say this game, from my experience, was as loud as '98 Michigan. That also was a freakishly loud game.

All I have to say about this game is that it may be the most complete performance of a Buckeye Team that I've ever seen. The scenario that played out tonight was beyond my wildest dreams!

Congratulations Bucks!

This one is especially sweet, and especially important. It changes our entire perspective on this season and next. Much like '02, we will go in with a QB who knows he has what it takes to win the most important game on the schedule. It means that this team is aimed upward, and not down. They need to carry this through bowl season and into the bowl game.

I think this one was on par with the 02 PSU game. There were times I couldn't hear myself yell.

You could feel the electricity in the air inside the stadium. There was a magical quality to it. The scUM fans were the ones with trepidation in their eyes, not us. The south stands was an absolute mosh pit after Gonzo's TD. And every score after that it got worse. But on the field was even worse than that. It was asshole to bellybutton all over the place. Which wasn't too bad at times.

I got a handshake and emrace from Simon Fraser and Nuge.

What a day.... And to top it off - Gators 20- Noles13 :slappy:
