Finally got a chance to watch this game (first half so far), and this is a statement loss by PSU, not a win by UM.
Hart turns in a fine outing and carried his team (as always), which the media seems to think is what turned around the season.

Mallett threw a couple of near INTs in the first half, including one right in King's gut in Michigan territory. That doesn't count the screen pass which came closest to a surging PSU defender.
UM only had one scoring drive all day.
The other was spoiled by continuing struggles at the PK position. How often does Gingell have to fail before giving Wright a shot? He's 3 of 7. This miss was ugly.
Game changing plays thus far:
- Brandon Graham unblocked (like he regularly, including both sacks), he makes a big hit and forces a fumble. Pretty easy play.
- Ryan Mallett somehow scrambles 20 yards slower than Charlie Weis. That was certainly a freak occurrence.
+ 7 pts for UM
- Butler was wide open for a routine TD pass, which Morelli threw 15 feet in the air... PSU settles for a FG.
- 4 pts for PSU
That's an 11 pt swing in a game decided by 5 pts. The what-if game should be left for PSU's board, but I would not come away feeling warm and fuzzy if I were a UM fan. I'd celebrate the win and chuckle at the continued ownage, but I'd be concerned moving into the bigger games down the road.
