Miami Heat (3x NBA Champions)

Heat lose again to the Celtics. Maybe if DWade concentrated as much on making his shots (6-17 from the field) as he does throwing cheap shots at KG, the Heat could actually beat the Celtics.
I dunno, maybe if you throw enough cheap shots at KG, one of them lands and he's gone for the year...

In fairness, it wasn't much of a cheap-shot but more like a hard box-out. It was tit for tat after Garnett laid out Mike Miller on a screen.

I guess my biggest beef is, Garnett was returning the favor after Z laid Rondo out on a hard screen. At that point they're even if you're keeping score. But Wade saw an opportunity to send a message to Garnett and took it.

I have no problem with it at all. I can see the frustration in D-wade's game as he continues his descent into role player for the Heat though. His last couple of games:

6/17 for 16 points against Boston
9/15 for 24 points against Detroit
7/17 for 17 points against Indiana (LeBron dropped 41)
8/14 for 28 points against the Clippers
8/20 for 22 against the Bobcats
5/12 for 14 points against the Magic (LeBron with 51)

I kind of felt at the beginning of the year LeBron looked defeated and dejected. D-wade was the energy of the team when he got healthy and kind of steadied the ship after a rocky start to the season. But now it is the opposite. I see a lot of frustration on D-Wade's face even in wins, and his numbers have been very average, even poor, over the last couple of weeks.

The MVP talk for LeBron, and just watching LeBron carry Miami in a lot of games can't sit very well with him. Obviously a night like 9/15 for 24 points has to feel good, but in a normal year only taking 15 shots when he isn't missing would be absurd.

I still think there is a lot of ego festering under the surface with this team. I don't think all 3 are all happy at once very much. Maybe a title at the end of the year changes that, but right now it feels like LeBron is going Cleveland Cavs mode and D-Wade is turning into a better version of Mo Williams. I thought LeBron made an interesting comment after torching the Pacers for 41 in early February that he was "now comfortable with his role and confident in playing LeBron James basketball now". As if saying, this was now his team and he's comfortable being the man. If that's the case, D-Wade needs to to relinquish the team, which I don't think he's ready to do...and it's now showing in his body language and frustration on the court.

So D-Wade comes out and has a 24 point first quarter against the Pacers tonight. The story after tonights game will be how D-Wade blew up and got his mojo back.

The real story should be how Miami decided to massage his ego by feeding him the ball all quarter and making sure he got off. If there weren't egos at play they wouldn't have to make sure one guy "gets his" game to game to keep them happy.

Exactly. Those people who don't think that Wade scoring 40+ was intentional on the part of the Heat are, coincidentally enough, those people who were born yesterday. And despite Wade's numbers, the Heat needed a 4th quarter comeback to beat sub-.500 Indiana.

I'm not sure if this is the correct analogy, but the Heat seem like Paper Tigers because they tear it up against low and middling competition, but fall short against the top tier. Seems like they likely end up with a stellar record because they aren't often losing to the teams they shouldn't lose to, meanwhile they don't seem to have it in them to win it all because they almost never beat the top teams.

well this is correct because all of the top teams have a great post game, which the heat do not have...bosh is not a post player, and their best post player is Z...losing haslem hurt them big time...the top teams in each conference have awesome big men, or at least better big men then Miami
Boston (Garnett, Davis, Perkins)
New York (Stoudamire, Mozgov)
Chicago (Noah, Boozer)
Orlando (Howard, Bass)
Atlanta (Horford, Smith)

Western Conference is a little weaker compared to the east with good post players, so Miami would actually have a better chance of beating a Western Conference team then say a Boston or Orlando in a 7 game series

I agree, with the exception of the Lakers. Gasol and a healthy Bynum are more than the Heat can handle.

you can throw the Spurs in that mix also, but the other teams
Denver (Nene, Williams) - If Nene is healthy i will take this over Miami
Dallas (Chandler)
OKC (Ikba, Kristic)
New Orleans (Aaron Gray, Okafur)

nothing to scary there...might have more talent in the post but nothing Miami couldnt overcome...Utah, Portland (if camby is healthy) and Memphis all have great big men also but lack in different departments....those 3 teams also have a slim shot of facing Miami in the finals, throw Denver in that department as well
