Miami is going to destroy them.

Does anyone still look at Melo as a top 8-9 player in the league anymore?

Bron
Kobe
Durant
Howard
Rose
Wade

Dirk
Duncan
Rondo

Chris Paul makes my overrated team too...I'll take Deron Williams and Rondo all day long over him.

Duncan? Stretching it with that one...although Hollinger does have him rated above Melo in his PER rankings (Duncan #21, Melo #22).

i'm surprised there hasn't been any Melo backlash. Dude held the team hostage and demanded to get traded to the team of his choice.

His former team also got an amazing return in the trade. LeBron just played the Cleveland Front Office for 3 years knowing full-well he wouldn't resign.

We get a bunch of [Mark May]ty draft picks while the Nuggets save 20 million this year, get Gallinari, Raymond Felton, Wilson Chandler, a 2014 first round draft picks, and 2 Golden State second round picks.

Considering how overrated Melo is, that is a hell of a deal for the Nuggets.

Have you seen San Antonio's record?

The guy is still a pretty dominate big man with a good post game in an era where very few bigs even have one anymore.

Melo is just a streaky shooter, who plays bad defense, and a volume scorer in isolated sets.

Not exactly Mike D'Antoni basketball, but as NF said this is the new era of "super-teams".

And for a laugh go visit some Knicks boards...not exactly a uniform chorus of cheers. Most think this trade was being bent over the table.

FatMelo in that system is going to be hilarious. He can barely run up and down the court without having to stop for a cigarette and a donut.

Just wait until Amare's knees give out and you'll have FatMelo and the 7 dwarves.

i'm surprised they chose Gallinari. I probably would have went with Fields.

But it isn't a dealbreaker either way when you're getting the rest of the package.

Shit...Felton, Chandler, Gallinari, a 2014 first round pick, and 2 Golden State 2nd rounders is a hell of deal with a nice core.

And I think you'd be in the minority on Gallinari...the guy has shown flashes of being an elite player. Remember the hsow he put on against Miami? Skilled 6'9 player who can score from the perimeter and is crafty in the lane. And still really young. He has a lot more upside than Fields, although Fields has brought it more consistently.

But you don't ever see Fields dropping 38-40 points either.

Denver made out. They have a pretty young core, saved a shitload of money, and have a nice package of picks.

Cleveland would only be so lucky....

In fairness, he plays in an open-court system currently. He's just lucky Chauncey Billups can't play in that system either and just naturally kills the pace.

D'Antoni might have a stroke by the end of the year watching Billups try and run his system, while Melo grinds the offense to a halt every time he touches it. A shitty up-tempo offense is also a great way to give up 120 points pretty consistently.

Yeah, seen the record- and I'm in no situation to get into an even halfway-serious conversation about the NBA, as I've almost entirely checked out at this point...but I'm just not sure he's a top 10 player right now. Having Manu, Parker, solid role players and Pops coaching are helping that cause.

Definitely not arguing FOR Melo to be a top 10 player. He's peaked/let himself go from what I see. Not a player I'd want on my team.

I don't know- replace Duncan with Kevin Love (not so much as a for a team, but as a "player") to round out the top 10, imo. Dirty Derron, Westbrook, Duncan, hell even Zach Randolph this year could be right there in the discussion for ahead of Melo.
