Whiting is only suspended for 1 game.
Yep. You are right. I guess I'd have to take a look at the value of the benefits for those canes versus the amounts for the Bucks. But that does not explain the one added game to make it five games for the Bucks when the dollar amount for the canes does not seem so far different.

IIRC, they tacked on one more game because the student athletes knew they took impermissible benefits after being exposed to the new 'rules education' and did not fess up...or something like that.

OSU's football team is going to suffer because the athletic department made extra attempts to educate the players?

Having Sean Spence back for the game is a huge coup for them. IMO, he's the best player on that defense. He was all over the place when he played against us and was their "spy" against Pryor.

I was under the impression though that it was 1 game suspension for every $200 received in extra benefits, going back to Troy Smith missing 2 games for receiving $500. How does Marcus Fortson get 1 game for receiving "more than $400" (according to the article)?

The 8 guys that have been declared ineligible due to taking over $100 in extra benefits should all receive at least a 2-game suspension, per NCAA rules on reinstatement.

Extra benefits between $100 and $300 = repayment and 10% "withholding" - the withholding being 10% of the season's games rounded up, which equals 2 games.

10% = between $100 and $300 in extra benefits (2 games)
20% = between $300 and $500 in extra benefits (3 games)
30% = over $500 in benefits in extra benefits (4 games)

Miami's second game is against tOSU.

I'll never understand the NCAA's rulings.

I heard from a source "the NCAA found nothing wrong with the abortions as it was a direct result of fornication with a prostitute that was definately needed after a night of many erotic lap dances with several strippers. All of this occured on an extravigant yacht which was located in International waters, therefore no NCAA violations had occured" It's all about the chain of events I guess
