"Hey, that sounds great Charlie. Now why don't you go out there and run the dadgum out-and-up like I told you."

So 33 years ago there were no bounties while you lived in Steeb. Got it.

How about since then?

Is there no chance somebody slipped money for a big hit to one of the hundreds of kids to go through tOSU in the past 33 years? None? Zero?

33 years ago before mobile phones, digital cameras and the internet, it would have been easy to cover up anything. In fact it was...stuff like fights and DUI's.

Is there a chance? Of course there was. Was money spread around a bit..probably...But I didn't hear, see or otherwise suspect or know of "bounties" being earned by ANYONE at OSU. If there were Shapiros around, they were well hidden

Nah, I'll leave you to your sweet dreams. No sense interrupting a good sleep.

No hard feelings, but folks are entitled to their opinions on both sides. I respect your opinion and position even if I disagree.

Being grounded in reality does indeed make it easy for me to sleep well. I'll leave you to the tanks of water, freeze dried food and the survival bunker you probably dug in your back yard. Happy to agree to disagree.

I really wish the mainstream discussion would focus on the sham that the NCAA really is with their amateurism bull[Mark May], rather than debating whether similar activities take place place at other schools or what punishment should be doled out to Miami.

It's a shame that most writers are caught up in the minute details instead of looking at the big picture and calling for reform. I commend the guys at Yahoo! for doing the college football world a huge favor. Wetzel has long been an opponent of the BCS and the exploitative nature of college football in general and he, along with Robinson, are making the big boys pay for their double standards. By exposing violations of their own meaningless rules they are making it increasingly difficult to justify the status quo.

Here is an idea that would never work because most Boards of Trustees would never agree to it; Have three grades of infraction.

Minor infractions (improper gifts less than $1000)...Grade 1) player and or coach suspensions (fines are a university issue) as sanctions.

Major infractions (pay to play, LoIC, etc) Grade 2) player, coach, bowl appearance and scholarship suspensions.

Pervasive Offenders...Grade 3) Force everyone in the chain of command between the University President and the Head Coach in question to resign without compensation. aka the "death penalty" for administrators. Do you think any President or AD would let a coach get them fired becuase their kids got out of control? No way....No way.
