Miami (FL) Hurricanes (1926-2003)

Finally ends tomorrow

Bruce Feldman ‏@BFeldmanCBS 4m
The Miami Herald reporting that NCAA is expected to announce a decision Tuesday in NCAA's #Miami investigation

Bruce Feldman ‏@BFeldmanCBS 2m
NCAA announces it will discuss COI's #Miami findings at 10 AM ET tomorrow

Re: The report by the NCAA's Committee on Infractions will end another chapter in the drawn-out saga, though if more sanctions against Miami are recommended, the process almost certainly doesn't end here. The Hurricanes have said they will not stand for major penalties beyond ones they have already self-imposed, and have the right to appeal whatever decision is looming.

Not necessarily, there could be an appeal.

Lack of institutional control, loss of scholarships. Ped State will cry foul, as the violations won't warrant as extreme punishment.

I hate to even say this. It may even border on blasphemy.... but the NCAA has actually made me feel sorry for Miami. How can it take 3 years to make a ruling. it's ust another reason to hate the NCAA.

I'm ready for the slap-on-the-wrist announcement while the NCAA tries to save face from their debacle of an investigation. Huge penalties almost certainly mean an appeal and the NCAA likely isn't interested in having their investigation put under a microscope.

They'll bluster about for half an hour, announce in grave tones that Miami has not followed the spirit of the NCAA but the evidence just doesn't warrant stiffer penalties.

I love how their "bowl bans" count as bowl bans. They play a year, realize they suck so they forfeit one bowl. Then they do it again and forfeit another one. How ballsy and noble of them to wait until they know their season is shot before giving up a shot at the walnut.com bowl.

I wish Gene Smith were that incompetent.

NCAA strips Miami of 9 scholarships, but Hurricanes avoid bowl ban

  • Miami, which has sat out the last two postseasons and three postseason games (the third game being the 2012 ACC Title Game) by self-imposing penalties on itself in the wake of the Nevin Shapiro scandal, will not be hit with any further post-season ban, a source told CBS Tuesday morning. UM will lose nine scholarships over the next three seasons, the source added...continued
