Bama vs PSU is the night game for that day. Plus, I believe we had scheduled Marshal for a night game and the University typically only likes to schedule one night game per year for a variety of reasons.

Yeah I knew about the Marshall game being at night in Week 1, but I completely forgot that Week 2 has PSU @ Bama which makes total sense. Thanks

maybe they want to win. The premiere home game under the lights has usually resulted in a loss.

The last five years

Usc, psu, ill, none in 06?, texas

Or bama psu has a better audience, what with more than one major fanbase watching and all, unlike this one... especially if one team goes up by a good bit. Those schools still use their upper deck seats after a few losses.

There wasn't a premiere home game in 2006?

I seem to remember one....
true, but I think the theory stands, look at all of those turnovers by troy and datisg in the second half darkness.

Pretty bad oversight on my part, especially since I was there. The game just always registers in my mind as a midday kickoff.

Tell me about it. I understand TV rules all these days, but changing the start time for any rivalry game bothers me.

Everything looks different at night even with the best lighting and we both know the Shoe doesn't exactly set the standard there. In fact in baseball when we finally played on a field that had lights it took some adjustment because of the lights themselves. I'm pretty sure the same standard applies to football, especially when a player is used to practicing and playing during daylight.

Don't get me started on that subject. I don't get how OSU can be among the most aggressive universities when it comes to upgrading every facility possible, but can't shell out for decent lighting. I know it costs money but you're only going to use them 2-3 times a year anyway. It's like holding a game beneath a cluster of street lamps.

Why aren't we playing this at night? I thought we would be playing all of our high profile OOC games in the Shoe under the lights, as we did with Texas and USC.

Texas and USC were prime time matchups vs national title contenders.

This is just a middle of the road ACC team.

iowa was not the premiere game, usc was. Iowa finished better but usc was a national must watch game

I mean if you're counting Illinois 07 as a night game, then by those standards you would have to include Iowa 2009 as a night game. I'm not arguing whether the games were "premier" games or not, but if the argument is how OSU fares in nightgames, and you're including Illinois in there then Iowa should be in there too.

I'm well aware of what you mean, as seen by my inclusion of ILL 07 & UM 06 (after mike reminded me).

There's zero question what my argument is about and what your rebuttal was addressing

Really, I was just making a random observation during the offseason, not trying to say OSU is screwed under the lights.

Josh, your points are well taken. I'm very worried.

Maybe we should write a fake news article about how we won now.
