My daughter managed to make it home for Xmas.

Her flight was scheduled for Sunday morning. It was canceled because the crew would have exceeded time limits if they had flown into her small town airport the night before. With the holiday travel, there were no open seats until Tuesday. That flight was delayed because the plane coming in was delayed. Then in-flight, the small plane was slowed by headwinds. So she missed her connection.

So she was placed on a later flight last evening. That was delayed on takeoff because of weather in Chicago, then had to return to the gate for de-icing. Then when they attempted to take-off, the engines made a loud noise, so the pilot aborted the takeoff, and they jammed on the brakes to stop before the end of the runway. There was a bunch of snow out there, so the plane was stuck for a while. Then they made it back to the gate, and were told that the flight would take off in the morning.

They were told they could get hotel vouchers, but the hotel was 45 minutes away from the airport, and it was 2 a.m. and the plane was supposed to take off at 6 a.m. So everybody stayed at the airport, since they only would have gotten an hour or 2 at the hotel.

This morning the flight was delayed because the luggage was still being transferred. Then the jetway was stuck to the plane. Then there was no person to drive the push-back truck. Then there was a delay due to weather again in Chicago. So the flight was about 3 hours late this morning.

But she finally made it home safe and sound, and that's enough to make it a Merry Christmas!
