Just got home from the New Year's Party...

Since I live in Tallahassee, the party I went to was mostly 'Nole/Gator fans (don't ask). They were depressed about their loss to the mighty wildcats of the sec early on, and the DJ didn't help. He kept mentioning the loss and kept playing lame songs.

Then, the party changed for the better (at least for me). The DJ played "Hang on Sloopy". I could see my wife's friends nudge her and point at me as my eyes welled up; but I didn't care. They had no fucking clue...

Then, during the appropriate part of the song, I belted out a loud "O... H... I... O..." Everyone else was staring at me, but I truly did not care. I was a Buckeye, alone in a Sea of Seminole; and I was being who I really am. "Appropriate" might be the wrong word, considering where I was; but perhaps I already mentioned that I did not fucking care.

Somehow, the awkwardness created by the "Crazy Ohio Guy" morphed into an energy that never left until the party broke up, just minutes ago. The place started rocking and didn't stop until the "Clubhouse Rules" required us to shut down.

I truly wish I were anywhere but here (Tallahassee) right now; but wheresoever I am, I love being a Buckeye.
