Game Thread Maryland at tOSU, Sat. Oct. 10th, 4:15 pm ET, BTN

Ill always take an OSU W

Totally agree! Took my 7 and 10 year old boys and we sat in A deck until Carmen Ohio was over. Stadium was maybe 60% capacity after halftime. Soft crowd
Love that you kept your boys there until Carmen! Thats the type of thing that creates lifelong memories. They get to see one of the greatest catches in CFB history, a blowout win by the Bucks, some great seats and finish the day with Carmen.

A tradition I am so grateful to pass on to the next generation. I have told my boys multiple times this season they’re watching a legend and they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.

Maybe they read what the newsies write? Watch the point spread? Listen to the news? Could be all of the above, or none of the above. Probably not alot of anticipation, except maybe the 2's, 3's or 4's of getting some PT. A thought, maybe the coaches level of intensity.

Just a few quick notes.....

It's sort of amazing that Maryland was able to score 16 points given that the Buckeye defense held the Terps to 146 yards of total offense on 53 plays (average of 2.75 yards per play); 12 of 25 passing (.480); 3 of 13 (.231) on third and fourth down conversions; and forced seven punts. Maryland scored a field goal on a short-field after a fumble recovery and a touchdown on a pick six; their only legit scoring drive was 11-plays, 75-yards for a touchdown that was assisted by four Buckeye penalties for 30 yards, including a crucial roughing the passer flag after a third down incompletion.

On the other hand, it's sort of amazing that the Buckeyes were able to score 45 points given that the offense had a pair of turnovers and a 16-play, 72-yard touchdown drive that ate up ten minutes of clock (that's 17% of the game on one drive); and Jeremiah Smith had only four receptions for 93 yards (but two touchdowns, 33 yards and 40 yards). Lead tailbacks Bo Jackson and Ja'Kobi Jackson had 37 carries for 178 yards (4.8 average) and two touchdowns (both by Bo) behind a patchwork offensive line.

If the Buckeyes were fully healthy and brought their A game, the final score would've probably been more like 59-0.

I was at the game and got no explanation. Did anyone ever figure out what happened, for sure?

Senior defensive end Qua Russaw was flagged for a delay of game for clapping to get a teammate’s attention.

Definitely a little nervous going into the Indiana game with how much Sayin has been getting hit lately. Especially with how creative IU can be with their rushes, which our line always struggles with
I don't feel good about it at all. Too many stupid and unforced mistakes. IU won't do that so giving them free shit will be a disaster

Snap Counts: Chris Henry Jr., Jake Cook, Cam Calhoun Among Buckeyes Who Play Expanded Roles with Six Starters Out vs. Maryland

164529_h.jpg

With six starters sidelined for Saturday’s game against Maryland, numerous backups moved into bigger roles against the Terrapins.

Five-star freshman Chris Henry Jr. made his first career start at wide receiver, while Brock Boyd and Kyle Parker also saw expanded playing time alongside Jeremiah Smith, as Devin McCuin and Brandon Inniss both missed the game due to injuries.

With Austin Siereveld and Phillip Daniels both out on the offensive line, Gabe VanSickle moved from right guard to right tackle while Jake Cook made his first career start at RG.

On the other side of the ball, TJ Alford started in place of Christian Alliegro and played the most snaps among linebackers, while Cam Calhoun made his second consecutive start at cornerback – with Jermaine Mathews Jr. moving to nickelback – as Jay Timmons missed his second straight game due to injury.

As Ohio State pulled its starters late in the fourth quarter, 30 different Buckeyes played at least one snap on offense while 27 Buckeyes saw action on defense in Ohio State’s 45-16 win. Ten other Buckeyes played on special teams only.

Not nervous at all. Being nervous about a game where I have exactly zero influence makes no sense.

Ohio State has to play better yes. But so does Indiana - Indiana woulda shoulda coulda lost to Nebraska, Ohio State was never really in danger of losing to Maryland....
