Mark May (Blew 5 guys at Pitt)

i remember last year on espn.com every state had OSU beating UF except for the sec school states.
thats how we roll in the sec .
mm hmm, except for you know, this entire season and this specific matchup. :roll2:

It's remarkable how the media has repainted the OSU-UF buildup. While OSU was the favorite (due to their far more consistent play during the year), they were not hailed as an unbeatable dynasty like USC or Miami. Most who picked OSU did so by about 7 pts.

I don't know, I kinda saw LSU/Arkansas coming simply because LSU has struggled with strong running games all year long (even when healthy) and Darren McFadden is THAT good.....

WVU/Pitt was completely out of left field however.

LSU-Arkansas may not have been a crazy game, in that LSU lost. But you really can't hold it against Mark May for picking LSU to win it. Same with West Virginia to beat Pitt.

Don't get me wrong - I've never really liked hearing Mark May talk. I don't care if he's talking about Ohio State or whoever, he just doesn't seem to be very credible to me. And the problem that I see is that I get the feeling that ESPN wants him to be the credible one. It's my opinion that Lou Holtz has taken the position of "Mr. Out-There," saying all kinds of nutty things. That's fine with me, because I can't usually understand him, anyway. Besides, he's really just a TV personality. He can be compared to Lee Corso. Just have him say crazy stuff to rally the troops for or against him, and he'll make ratings.

But that would make Mark May the Kirk Herbstreit counter-part. And that's very insulting to Herbie. While Kirk Herbstreit, who definitely is not always correct, sounds intelligent in his break-down of the game, Mark May does not. I get the feeling that his emotions get too much into the game, and that he believes that his predictions actually affect the outcome.

someone said it before but im starting to like you OSU fans.
you guys seems down to earth on your team and are very
knowledgeable about football.
Now you see why we have so many "outsider" fans stay aroung long after our games are done. Hell, we even have a USC guy as a senior moderator (methomps) who has over 4,400 posts her and has been a member for 3 1/2 years (and we don't play each other until next season). Regardless of the outcome of the NC game, you see more than a few LSU fans hang around here well after the game is done...

I think E$PN wanted Trevvie to be the "Herbie counter-part" but Trevvie couldn't handle being on the 2nd team, so he left. I kinda doubt E$PN signed Mark May to be the leader on the 2nd team but it kind of worked out that way.

Just watch, next year or whenever Holtz decides to quit, they will move up Craig James or someone else equally obnoxious....

Yeah Glenn Dorsey had some serious problems with that alright, on the way to taking home more trophies than Mark May has tangled ass-hairs (that's what Lou Holtzsh says anyway). Holtz is so clueless he'd die of exhaustion if you put him in a round room and told him to go take a piss in the corner.

And look, seriously, May was a Pitt lineman and then played in the NFL, so he got hit in the head about 450,000 times and he'll never "forgive" the 4 Pitt-OSU "games" of the 1990s, the end results of which were more like the New England Patriots against Wisconsin-Whitewater. I don't buy into the stuff that the entire media has it out for us, but over the years to me he's proven that he certainly does. Fine. Whatever. If the fucklips wants to say we couldn't win a home-and-home with Baylor, or Mary Hardin-Baylor, or Mary had a Little Lamb A&M, let him. His opinion is of less value than a one-legged horse at the Kentucky Derby. His brain is smaller than Lou Holtz' vocabulary without spittle. And he's so ugly it looks like his neck threw up. He has to live with being himself. All we have to do (OSU and LSU fans alike) is laugh at him.
