Marcus Lattimore (official thread)

on mnf correct? i remember that. his knee exploded

Yep. That one and Krumrie stick in my mind when I think of injuries. Krumrie's injury was literally from the torque in his leg when he made a tackle and his spikes stayed planted in the turf. No one hit him at all. His leg just snapped.

Prothro was bad as well. Really bad.

It's private information, but has it been reported anywhere if Lattimore had a life insurance policy prior to the season?

I don't know if he would've been granted one (with any substantial money), since he was coming off of an injury.

I presume you really are not asking about life insurance but, instead meant some type of injuy insurance?

Students usually don't because they (or their parents) wouldn't be able to afford that. Plus they always have their degree to fall back on if they can't continue to play.

The Clint Malarchuk injury is and will always be the worst sports injury of all time. Not too often do you see an athlete literally dying before your eyes. That shit was gruesome.

He didn't die. In fact he played the next week. But yes, that was probably the scariest injury I had ever seen.

Not quite literally, but close. He's lucky the team's trainer had combat experience

Yeah, that was terrifying. Still makes me uncomfortable.

Agreed... I think ostich legs are uuuuuuugly. Worse than chicken legs, pigeon toes, and cankles.

It's the teeth you have to look out for...

Actually, it can be quite fun to ride an ostrich...

I know he didn't die, in fact, he tried shooting himself in 2008. But had he not had that trainer to save him, he would have died. That shit was crazy.

Sorry, meant to say disability insurance for student-athletes (what McGahee signed, Michael Redd had when he came back, Chris Wells had, etc., etc.).

For example, if Hankins comes back next year, he'll have it to protect against a career-ending injury.

I imagine Lattimore didn't have the supplemental disability insurance, because he was coming off of an injury prior to the year.
