OSU has not beaten Duke for a hoops recruit for as long as I can remember. Coach K has had his way on the recruiting trail going up against everybody but Calipari, yet somehow he gets treated as a great coach without regard to his lofty recruiting, while Matta loses to the blue bloods in recruiting every time and is "just a recruiter" according to some. Coach K has gotten many more McDonald's AAs than Matta in the timeframe since Matta has been at OSU, and yet Duke has fewer Final Fours to show for it.

I'm just going to assume Greg Oden had a Duke offer.

Well, they weren't recruiting him from my recollection. I recall Wake Forest and Indiana wanting him. Duke was not a factor in his recruitment, presumably because they expected him to be going preps to the pros and skipping college altogether. His class was the first one that couldn't go to the NBA out of high school, and the schools didn't know that he had to go to college until the summer before his senior year at Lawrence North.

I guess we never recruited anyone and got them if they had a offer from Duke :worry:
