LSU Tigers (official thread)

According to CBS Sports’ Barrett Sallee, LSU is the biggest threat to upend Alabama in the SEC West this coming Fall.

“I don’t want to jump to any premature spring game conclusions, but I’m going to jump to a (premature) spring game conclusion: Prior to Saturday, I was dead set on LSU being down this year. Not anymore. The Tigers are Alabama’s biggest threat in the West *subject to change,” Sallee tweeted.

If LSU has any chance to take down Alabama, they’ll have to improve their quarterback play over last year and at least match the potential in the Crimson Tide’s Bryce Young.

our QB play wasn’t dreadful last year.

LSU Tigers banning RB Derrius Guice, firing longtime law firm

LSU, which is struggling to recover from an ongoing sexual harassment scandal that involved allegations against former coach Les Miles, is in the process of banning star running back Derrius Guice indefinitely from the athletics program, a school spokesman confirmed to ESPN on Friday.

The university is also cutting ties with its longtime law firm, Taylor Porter.

The decisions are part of sweeping changes LSU is making in response to a March report from Husch Blackwell, which detailed systemic failures by LSU to appropriately report incidents of athletic-related sexual misconduct and abuse.

Guice was charged in three separate domestic violence incidents in 2020 and two women accused him of sexual assault while he was a freshman in 2016. A third LSU student alleged in 2016 that Guice had taken a partially nude photo of her without her knowledge and showed the pictures to his teammates.

The university plans to remove his statistics from the school record books.

I’m fine with banning somebody from the program and rescinding any awards he won, but IMO removing his name from the record books is stupid. It’s not like he didn’t carry the ball and you can’t pretend he didn’t.

Another lawsuit (i.e. class action) yesterday.....

Seven women sue LSU, allege violations in how Title IX complaints were handled

Seven women filed a federal class-action lawsuit against LSU and its leadership Monday, with the university's former president and athletic director, as well as its athletic fundraising group, among those named as defendants, according to a copy of the lawsuit obtained by ESPN.

According to the 118-page document, the women attended the Baton Rouge campus at some point from 2013 to 2021, and "were victims of sex-based discrimination, including rape, sexual assault, sexual harassment, and/or stalking, perpetrated by male LSU students."

The women include three former LSU tennis players, two former student workers in the football recruiting office, a former student and a current student. They allege "a conspiracy" by the defendants to keep them quiet and "deprive them of their constitutional and federal rights in order to protect the reputation and income of LSU athletics."

They are seeking more than $5 million in damages, plus court costs.
.
.
.
Because it is a class-action lawsuit, any others who allege they were hurt by a systemic failure by LSU to comply with Title IX from 2013 to the present can potentially join as plaintiffs.
.
.
.
This is the second lawsuit filed this month against LSU and its leadership.

Lewis earlier filed a federal racketeering lawsuit accusing university officials of retaliating against her for reporting racist remarks and inappropriate sexual behavior by former coach Les Miles. The lawsuit also accuses LSU officials of working with a law firm to cover up allegations against Miles, including one that he engaged in "explicit sex acts" with a student. Miles and his attorney have denied any wrongdoing.

https://247sports.com/Article/LSU-f...-case-allegations-Title-IX-lawsuit-167008203/

According to the lawsuit, former LSU student Ashlyn Robertson alleges Guice raped her while she was incapacitated at a party and later bragged about the sexual act to the football team. Robertson says her boyfriend, an unnamed LSU football recruit, learned of the sexual assault and approached Orgeron about it. "Orgeron responded by telling Robertson's boyfriend to not be upset because 'everybody's girlfriend sleeps with other people,'" the lawsuit says, according to the Advocate.

This got real! Idk how Orgeron keeps his job by the start of the season. He got LSU a title, but will screw the program for a long time

Has Orgeron ever been accused of saying anything intelligent/smart? Fansided (i.e. a so called LSU site expert) thinks he may be gone:

LSU Football: Ed Orgeron’s job could be in serious jeopardy

It’s impossible to say at this point what will happen with Orgeron. Each lawsuit is unique. And it’s unfair to speculate what the outcome of this lawsuit will be.

But I think it’s fair to suggest that Orgeron’s job at LSU could be in legitimate danger.
