That kind of style is common on other ESPiN shows though. If it's getting ratings, they don't care.
As for NFL... I imagine if all they did was smack talk, teams and players would be much less likely to give them interviews etc.
With college teams that threat isn't very serious. Schools have to play the recruiting game, while NFL drafts and pays money for players. Schools want to get their name brand out there across the country to attract students, while most NFL teams are aware that they're strictly a local sensation. The Patriots probably aren't very concerned with what people in Denver think about them and vice versa.
But many of the big Universities (incl Ohio State... but also think schools like Texas and USC) that are ever-present in college athletics have a national reputation and standards.
Part of me is hoping this is actually an indicator that May is done... we're just hearing about Holtz retiring first. That's probably just wishful thinking though.
