My take: Corso needs to go. In his prime, he had some great analysis, but his health is declining and he struggles to string two coherent thoughts together.

Desmond/Pollock/Herbie/May, etc are all puppets offering nothing more than what it says on their teleprompters. I don't know that any of them could give you an intelligent comment without them. (It might actually sound like Hoke stumbling through an interview..... "Er, um, uh.....well.....SEC.....you know......good football.......um..... yeah......")

I think Holtz would be awesome on BTN, where instead of the juvenile variety show that is Gameday, the BTN's pregame actually focuses on the games.

Coach Holtz is a great guy. I've seen him speak on a coupe of occasions and he's real.

I wasn't alive for this, but apparently he was offered the job when Woody was fired, and he said he didn't want to be the guy who followed Woody, but he'd be the guy who followed the guy who followed Woody.

Tough act to follow, lot of respect for Woody and a lot of fans loved him, it would be hard to step into that as the next head coach. Much easier following Gerry Faust at ND after 5 awful seasons.

I don't remember him being offered and distinctly remember wishing he would have been. Me and Pops used to talk about that a lot.

I was always under the impression that he was "speculated" to be the lead candidate, but he publicly stated he wasn't leaving Arkansas as soon as Hayes was fired so he didn't want the job, for the reasons that people mentioned...he wanted to be the guy who followed the guy.
