Los Angeles Lakers (17x NBA Champions)

Glanced over at the halftime of the Bucks game, the Lakers were up by 15, glanced back after the game and they were down by 6. But they win, 100 to 107 over the Mavericks.

Same here. I flipped back in time to see the Lakers go on their final run. I think the next 2 at home vs. Philly and Golden State should be gimmes, but one never knows. Another long road trip follows, this time to the sub-par section of the league, but away from home none-the-less. I know it is at least six, is it more? My desktop shows the month of March..

I would take 4-2 as acceptable, but 5-1 or better could likely help us snatch the #1 overall.

EDIT: @ Milwaukee makes 7. 5 wins is a must, 6 nice, 7 ideal.

Bryant, balanced Lakers beat Mavericks

LOS ANGELES(AP) Kobe Bryant scored 28 points, Trevor Ariza had a career-high 26, and the Los Angeles Lakers squandered a big lead before taking control late in a 107-100 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Sunday.
Pau Gasol added 25 for the Lakers, who are battling Cleveland for the NBA's best record and are already the Pacific Division champs. They could meet the Mavericks in the first round of the playoffs.
The Lakers had taken the lead in the first quarter and were ahead by 15 midway through the third before Dallas reserve Jason Terry led a 21-2 run that put the Mavericks in front 95-89 with 7:13 left in the game.
That was while both teams had mostly reserves on the court. When Bryant and the other Lakers starters returned, Los Angeles soon went on a 12-0 spurt of its own.
Bryant's 3-pointer with 6:51 left ended a string of nine consecutive misses by the Lakers from behind the arc, and he made another with 3:36 that ended the run with them up 101-95.
Terry led Dallas 29 points off the bench, and Dirk Nowitzki added 20 on 6-of-20 shooting.
Gasol finished 12-of-13 from the floor, making all 10 of his shots in the first half. Bryant was 11-of-20 for the game.
Lamar Odom chipped in with 10 points and 14 rebounds. James Singleton had 16 points and 10 rebounds for Dallas.

I don't know about calling Golden State a give me, they play the style of bball that frustrates the Lakers, move up and down and constant energy. It's in Staples, so we should win, but who knows. Stephen Jackson will be facing a suspension, but I figure that will be Wednesday against the Clippers instead of against the Lakers :(

Last I heard he was on the bike and lifting, which is much better than last year, but still has me curious and what's going on. Hopefully he's only out a couple more weeks but I wouldn't hold your breath.

do you think L.A. can win it all without him?

If Odom remembers how to play, maybe, but he hasn't been showing up lately, so no. I really think they should move Powell to the starting lineup and have Lamar come off the bench, when that was the case the bench was playing well, since the bench has become nonexistant :(

Lakers rest starters in 107-89 blowout of Thunder

OKLAHOMA CITY(AP) Kobe Bryant scored 19 points before taking the fourth quarter off, and the Los Angeles Lakers cruised to a 107-89 win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night.
The Lakers led from start to finish for the ninth time this season and closed within one game of idle Cleveland for the best record in the NBA.
Lamar Odom scored 18 points before fouling out and Pau Gasol had 14 points, 14 rebounds and seven assists for Los Angeles. All of the Lakers starters spent the final 8 minutes on the bench, getting some needed rest two games into a seven-game road trip.
Kevin Durant scored 24 points to lead Oklahoma City, which had all five starters reach double figures.

Not nearly as exciting as Saturday, but I am always happy to see a win. the next two games, Detroit and Charlotte, I haven't seen them win in Detroit in a long time, I want to say since before they lost in the finals to the Pistons, but I may be wrong. As for the Bobcats, another team that seems to give the Lakers tons of issues, so two really tough road tests coming up.

Bryant scores 30 points, Lakers beat Pistons

AUBURN HILLS, Mich.(AP) Kobe Bryant had a reason to smile when he left The Palace for a change.
Bryant scored 30 points and helped the Los Angeles Lakers beat Detroit 92-77 Thursday night, snapping a nine-game losing streak on the Pistons' home court.
"It feels good to finally walk out of here with a win,'' said Bryant, who helped Los Angeles score the last 20 points of the third quarter to surge ahead for good.
Including three losses in the 2004 NBA finals, the Lakers hadn't won on the road against the Pistons since Jan. 8, 2002.
The Western Conference-leading Lakers earned their fourth straight victory to pull within a game of NBA-leading Cleveland, and five in a row on the road for a league-high 26 this season.
"One of our goals is to have the best record before the playoffs start to have home-court advantage,'' Lamar Odom acknowledged.
