looking like i'll have to just hope I'm lucky and find some by accident somewhere.

with my kids in school the most time i'd have is Martin Luther King day (4 day weekend) or Mardi Gras break (5 or 6 days).

MLK is too short of a break to drive 20 hours and back (Minnesota).
and I'm not sure about Mardi Gras. I think they are using a couple of those days to make up days missed due to Hurricane Issac this year.

Ship it in and have it dumped in your yard.

Let me know what dates you decide and I'll see if my cabin in Alaska will be available. There are people renting it right now but if they decide not to stay all winter it'll probably be open until the climbers start arriving (April).

This webcam shot from nearby is from Tuesday:

It's just outside Talkeetna, the town Northern Exposure was based on. It's also adjacent to Denali National Park (you can see Mt McKinley in the 2nd pic) and about 2 1/2 hours north of Anchorage.

Not within your driving radius of course.

Most of the ski places will make snow if it's cold enough, increasing the odds that you'll see snow. There's one in north central ohio called Snow Trails. As others mentioned, even if you're not in to skiing, you would probably still have fun tubing or even just messing around in the snow around the lodge.

I haven't been there since I was a kid but I think Malabar Farm near by has some touristy stuff as well that may or may not be interesting if you got bored enough. The tourist part might suck, so don't take my word on it, but the restaraunt had a good feel to it and was very good food when I went there a couple years ago.

Mountains in West Va. would be your closest best bet. There are resorts there like Snowshoe that have skiing, Tubing, snow mobile tours etc. pretty cool place and they get a lot of snow in the winter. there are some others in the blue ridge mountains as far south as NC. but its likely the only snow would be on the ski slopes.

I assumed the West VA and Meth were a given.

I'm talking about a place where the meth flows like crack and the women with no teeth flock instinctively like the salmon to Capistrano. A little place called Wesbygod Virginny.

Imagine what you, an RV and some Rice Beers can accomplish in such an environment.
