Problem is, it was NEVER fair for the player, or the employee who was risking his life. And I mean that literally and also financially. Coaches have always been able to leave on a moment's notice and the kids they recruit were just left there in a new system with coaches they weren't familiar with. While coaches got to leave freely and also made millions off of free labor. I have 0 sympathy for the colleges and the NCAA, this made this monster and fed it for decades, and brainwashed fans. There are a number of players who didn't pan out for OSU who I would've liked to transfer and open up a spot for a talented player. Free agency isn't a bad thing, and IMO has made professional sports even more interesting. Whatever your sports affiliation, I can guarantee you that a FA had a high level of success with your team, and he became YOUR player, and you disregarded their past team. I'm a Steelers fan, and trading for Minkah Fitzpatrick was massive to the defense. And before that Jerome Bettis was a massive trade, that brought immense success! CFB players should have that ability as well. Maybe they are on a deal where they can't transfer until after year 2, or there are limits to the amount of transfers by a player, IDK.
I would like some type of regulation with the Portal and NIL, but I have no problem with either. I much rather above board benefits, then a gold Trans Am just appearing outside a recruits house, or McDonalds bags being given to players behind the local Family Dollar.
