Sadly, he won't be getting the death penalty, like he deserves.

Never say never. There might be prosecutor looking to make a big splash.

Bail set at $8 million for kidnap suspect; prosecutor may seek death penalty

Castro, 52, is charged with four counts of kidnapping and three counts of rape. Police say the former school bus driver held Amanda Berry, 27, Gina DeJesus, 23, and Michelle Knight, 32, at his west side Cleveland home. The women were reportedly restrained with ropes and chains. Court documents indicate Castro repeatedly raped the women throughout their captivity.

Timothy McGinty, a Cuyahoga County prosecutor leading the case, said he and his team are evaluating whether to pursue charges eligible for the death penalty, which he said should be reserved for the "worst examples" of human conduct.

"I fully intend to seek to charges on each and every act of sexual violence, rape, each day of kidnapping, every felonious assault, all these attempted murders, and each act of aggravated murder he committed by terminating pregnancies that the offender perpetuaged against the hostages during this decade-long ordeal," McGinty told reporters at a news conference Thursday afternoon.

The FBI seems to really be digging in Castro's backyard to look for remains.

I don't think Castro will get the needle on the current charges, but could see it happening if they find some kind of skeleton.

Can't believe this guy used to drive kids to school, even though there's only so much an employment background check can see (and he didn't have a record).

Incredible story

We all here in NEO know about Amanda and Gina, and what a blessing to see them back with their loved ones.

Sad about Michelle, who nobody really knows about, and no real family to go "home" to. This young lady, to me anyway, hasn't really had a real chance at life to this point. Michelle is the one that I REALLY care about the most right now. Amanda and Gina are safe, Michelle seems to have nowhere to go. She's been involved with this the longest and one has to wonder what options are out here for her.

Although I can't stand the muther.F.ucker I'd love to see Dr. Phil get his crew involved with Michelle like RIGHT NOW. This young woman needs the best help possible out there and "Phil" is the one that can make it happen:oh:

And, just to reflect on the times we live in, Charles Ramsey is now getting bashed online for his past domestic violence convictions and whether or not he was actually the "first" responder. Shame on anyone who questions what happened during the rescue or who the players were. These "locals" took charge and saved these young women as a united team. God Bless them all!:io:

Peace

I am sure they will look at every single missing kid/woman in the area for the last 15/20 years and try to find any kind of evidence of any of those missing people. I really don't see how this guy avoids the death penalty right now, but if they find any other bodies its a done deal he is dead.

I imagine...knowing nothing about this worthless POS other than what I have read...that this was his plan all along. If you really want to die, you don't go for the death sentence, because you will be around for 20+ years with appeals, whether you want them or not. I hope the victims find peace now...that would be the final slap in his ugly face.

Let it be known that this pathetic piece of shit couldn't even take one percent of what he did to his victims.

Those women were kept in captivity for a decade and subjected to treatment that's beyond the imagination of decent human beings. They faced what could have been a lifetime in captivity bravely until their rescue.

Castro was only in jail. It's a lifetime of captivity but there are at least some people looking after you and treating you with the minimum of basic human dignity, which in and of itself was far more than he deserved. In the face of that, he only lasted a month. ONE FUCKING MONTH.

What a coward. It hardly seems like justice to me - death was the easy way out.

I understand what you are saying jlb, but I am glad he offed himself. I know it seems to be the easy way out, but at least the taxpayers won't be supporting that piece of shit anymore.
