Long-missing Amanda Berry, Gina DeJesus and Michelle Knight have been found alive. Berry called police Monday afternoon and frantically told a dispatcher that she was alive and free after being kidnapped 10 years ago and held captive in a house on Seymour Avenue on the city's West Side. DeJesus was with her.

A third woman, Michelle Knight, who has been missing since 2002, was also found at the house.

"We've confirmed it's them," a detective said. "They are alive and safe."

Berry, now 27, DeJesus, 23, and Knight, 32, were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center. The FBI and police will interview the women when they are discharged, the detective said.

Phyillis Marino, spokeswoman for MetroHealth, said three women will not be making a statement until 9:30 p.m.

Police arrested the owner of the house, Ariel Castro, 52, who had lived in the house since 1992. Records show he was arrested for domestic violence in 1993, but a grand jury declined to indict him.

A June 2004 story that appeared in a West Side neighborhood newspaper was written by someone named Ariel Castro and described the community's anxiety since the disappearance of DeJesus and Berry.

The author interviewed DeJesus' mother, Nancy Ruiz, and a group of parents waiting for their children to be released from Wilbur Wright Middle School. They spoke of the need for greater security and the fear that had settled upon the neighborhood.

"For seven weeks, Gina's family has been organizing searches, holding prayer vigils, posting fliers and calling press conferences," Castro wrote. "Despite the many tips and rumors that have been circulating in the neighborhood, there has been no sign of her.

One thing is for certain, however. Almost everyone feels a connection with the family, and Gina?s disappearance has the whole area talking."

It is unclear whether the author is the suspect.

Amanda Berry?s mother traveled to New York to tell her story to Psychic Sylvia Browne on the Montel Williams Show. The show was a shot at getting her daughter?s picture before the eyes of millions of Americans. ?On April 21st 2003, 16-year-old Amanda Berry left her part-time job never to be seen again,? the show began. With that, TV viewers across America now know a girl from Cleveland is missing. But Amanda Berry?s mom wanted more than her daughter?s picture on national TV. She wants answers. ?Can you tell me?Is she out there?? Berry?s mother Louwana Miller asked. ?I hate when they?re in the water,? Browne said. ?She?s not alive honey.? It was bad news from the world-renowned psychic. It?s what Miller didn?t want to hear. ?So you don?t think I?ll ever see her again,? Miller said. ?Yeah in Heaven on the other side,? Browne responded. ?I?m sorry.? Montel took a commercial break and Amanda?s mom broke down.
Fuck Sylvia Browne.

The world-renowned psychic was wrong? GTFOH

Yeah, I know they're all full of shit. It's just that it takes a special kind of slurry shit sucker to look a parent in the eye, knowing you're full of shit, and getting descriptive while telling them their missing child is dead.

No doubt. But the world renowned psychic had an hour to fill on Montel. The entertainment is what we are really after. Fucking depraved fucking society we are some times...

In 2002, Browne told Gwendolyn Krewson that her daughter Holly, who had been missing for seven years, was living in Hollywood, California and working as an exotic dancer in a nightclub. In 2006, dental records were used to positively identify a body found in 1996 in San Diego, California as that of Holly Krewson.

Browne stated that Ryan Katcher, a nineteen-year-old who disappeared during the night in November 2000 in Illinois, had been murdered and could be found in an iron mine shaft a few miles away from the Katcher home. Katcher was later found in his truck in a pond in Illinois and had died of drowning.

In 1999, Browne told Audrey Sanderford that her six-year-old granddaughter Opal Jo Jennings had been taken from Tarrant County, Texas to Japan and forced into "slavery" in a town she named as "Kukouro" or "Kukoura". No such town exists in Japan. In August of the same year, Richard Lee Franks was arrested and charged with Jennings' abduction and murder. He was convicted the next year. Jennings' remains were found in December 2003 and an autopsy revealed that she had died from trauma to the head within hours of being abducted.

In 2002, Browne told Lynda McClelland's daughters that their mother had been abducted by a man with the initials "MJ" and taken to Orlando, Florida but that she was still alive. McClelland's body was found buried less than two miles from her home in Pennsylvania. The man charged and convicted for the murder was David Repasky, McClelland's son-in-law. He had been present for the reading.

In 2003, Browne claimed that eleven-year-old Shawn Hornbeck had been abducted by a very tall man with long black dreadlocks and a blue sedan, and that his body could be found near two large, jagged boulders in a wooded area about 20 miles southwest of Richwoods. Her claims led to numerous people calling in with tips regarding possible spottings of the rock formations Browne had mentioned. Hornbeck was found alive four years later, having been abducted by a white man with short brown hair who drove a small white Nissan pickup. Browne told the New York Daily News, "I'm terribly sorry that this happened, but I think my body of work stands by itself. I've broken case after case. I think it's cruel to jump on this one case in which I was wrong."

In 2006, Browne told the fiance of murder victim Robert Hayes that he had been robbed by a man at a casino for his poker winnings and that there was video evidence. However, police later revealed that Hayes was having an affair and was robbed by the woman and three other people in a setup at an ATM. There were no press reports about him going to a casino or playing poker. She predicted the crime would take a "good two years" to resolve, but the case and trial happened within a year of Hayes's death.
