That may be so but did he gain a lot, NFL draft wise, coming back his senior year? (serious question)

I think he had a lot to gain, as far as pass coverage went. I seem to remember that was his big weakness. I seem to remember thinking that he was doing a better job in 2002, but when it came time for the actual draft, the so-called "experts" claimed that it was going to hold him back. When did he get drafted? I don't remember if it was 1st round. Something tells me it was middle of 2nd round, but I don't know for sure. So my answer is that he did have a lot to gain, but whether he actually gained it is another question.

Carr only proved what the Big Ten has denied for a long time

The Big Ten game rewards slower, bigger players--bulk over speed. In today's game, with spread offenses and speed everywhere, the Big Ten teams are going to be outclassed. Saturday's game merely hammared home the point.

So Missagain gets beaten by a 1AA team and suddenly you judge the whole conference on that? Last I checked we did a great job of spreading out our offense last year, Tressel has done a great job adapting the bucks. It's hardly the fault of the conference that scUM's defense sucks.

Thanks for the insight. Hadn't heard that one anywhere before.

You may want to hurry up and enlighten the NFL while your at it because they sure do draft a lot of our big, slow, outclassed players.

So if the game in Ann Arbor only proved what the Big Ten has denied for a long time, how is it that the Buckeyes went down to Austin and kicked the shit out of Texas last year?

Hmmmmmmmm?

Or how it is that both Penn State and Wisconsin, supposed "slogging" teams went out and beat both Tennessee and Arkansas with all that "southern speed"....

JaxBuck posted a great thread last night about the differences in both head to head and bowl games between the Big Ten and the SEC. It's very nearly even and has been for a while now.

What is funny about the bulk/slow vs spread/speed argument is that, in recent years, Northwestern, Michigan St, Indiana, and Purdue have all enjoyed varying degrees of success with spread offenses (poor coaching and/or terrible defenses have been their undoing, but you can't pin it on the offenses). Ohio State has run a spread offense since the last half of 2004, and Illinois is implementing a spread under Zook. It's a wonder that Michigan still can't defend it, since over half the conference runs it.

The only 'true' smashmouth team in the Big Ten anymore is Wisconsin. Everybody else is running pro/spread offenses.

Hey, footballfuckstick, ask Miami if they think the Big Ten is slow...

The speed was indeed impressive, but DA U were most upset about the lack of courtesy the Buckeye defense showed...

A UM Grad told me "Part of me wants OSU to beat UM again this year so that Carr will have no choice but to resign."

My Boss is a UM grad and he asked me to go to lunch with him today. OK, maybe you read my thread about "When your boss is a scUMer". I figured now isn't a good time to beat him over the head with it. I remembered how bad I felt on Jan 9th. He just said he was so mad at Lloyd for not preparing his team he just started throwing things at his TV (I hope it wasn't a new widescreen). The concensus among the Michigan fans in my office (in Toledo which is on the border), is that it's the coaches fault for loosing that one and someone's head should roll. However, common sense says that they need to learn from this mistake and work on their problem areas. Changing coaches may be on the agenda next season. I predict Michigan will be tougher this week when the meet Oregon and ND after. By the end of the season we may have a load to contend with in the UM.

tOSU should take notes here and prepare for each game learning from not only our previous one but also from our opponents "loosing ones like this".

Gain from your opponents without sacrificing your own strength.

Go Bucks!

:slappy: Says the fan of a team that embarrassed itself against Arky State, just without the loss.

Wake me up when Arky State doesn't dominate the stats against y'alls superior breed of humans. :roll2:
