I'd be surprised too. What about him making announcement that he's retiring at the end of the season?

That could happen but I don't think it will, I think the season will end and he'll announce he's leaving and going to spend more time with his family etc... Announcing now might give scUM an excuse, they were distracted or whatever, not that they just plain suck.

Announcing now could also be used as a motivational ploy to get his kids to finally bother playing for him. The problem UM is going to face is that indecision in the coaching staff will effect their recruiting.

True, but really what does that motivate them to do? Run Mike Hart more? The kid is going to be dead by the end of the season if they do that, I mean hell, he's already been hurt in the first two games of the season. By the time they get to tOSU he's going to be an armless and legless stump.

He'll be quadrapoligic, sittin' in his wheelchair, still running his mouth and talkin' smack.

Like the Black Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.

To be honest, I don't see Carr back at UM after this season. Their best case scenario is to beat the Bucks and win a bowl game, and claim that he is retiring on his own terms. If they lose another, UM officials will claim that the grind of the season, recruiting, blah, blah, are leading to "resignation by his choice." Mike Trgovac is sitting by his phone.

Great stuff on the Michigan blogs. Some sample comments:

Lloyd is on the radio with Brandstatter whining about injuries...

embarrassing
The thing that sucked the most was just the way the team gave up... In the past, we've seen Michigan beat Penn State on the last play of the game, or overcome that ridiculous deficit in Minnesota. Not this team, when the going got a little tough, they just quit and mailed it in.
From the AP

"It's kind of funny. I was looking at one of their D-lineman and was like, `He's about to quit,' " (Oregon tailback Jonathon) Stewart said.

Whatever waning respect we might have once enjoyed is fast evaporating.

I mean, come on guys. Mike Hart, Chad Henne, Jake long, I thought this season was your season, I thought this was your "Revenge Tour," I though this was your turn at a national title? Well, I guess you can kiss all of those dreams goodbye. And you may want to kiss Henne goodbye since he got hurt and sat out the second half, and maybe Hart as well who kept getting banged up all day.

So someone other than myself read my post on this matter...

Folks we can't criticize llllllllloyd. He doesn't have the resources to compete in todays game. Why if Michigan had renovated Chrysler Arena he'd have 18 National Championships this decade. He's got to deal with terribly annoying side line commentators, boosters that have ridiculous expecations like the Capital One Bowl, losing his players early to the nfl and graduate school and having to play to the toughest non-conference schedule in history.

Coop had an impressive record, but couldn't beat scUM, so he was fired. Bruce could beat scUM, but lost 3 a year which was unacceptable and therefore was fired.

In another thread, some scUM idiot was quoted about how scUM is held up to a higher standard but that's just crap. The fact is that LLLLoyd could go 9-3 every year and lose to OSU 2 out of every 3 games and he'd never get fired. All because he won a national title.

If Tressel ever loses 5 out of 6 to scUM, and starts a year 0-2, he'd already be fired. That's the difference between our program and theirs. They tolerate mediocrity..probably because they went 60 years without a title.

The fact that they worship fatass Bo Scumbecker who never won any title in his career speaks volumes. At OSU, he'd be a disappointment.

True, Carr averages 3 losses a season over his 12 years at scUM, and is .500 against tOSU, this wouldn't fly with us. Someone at work, a scUM alumni, put it to me like this "The on the field performance isn't as important as the loyalty to the program" I think a lot of the fans would beg to differ.

Now you add in the biggest upset in college football history and for every accomplishment there's a "but." "We're the winningest program in college football history" but you have the biggest upset in college football history. "Bo was a great coach, he turned our program around" but he never won a national title in 24 years at Michigan. "Carr won us a national title in 97" but he also lost to a 1-AA team 10 years later.

If Carr has respect for the program he will realize the big 10 has changed a lot and he hasn't adapted. A mobile quarterback will always beat him no matter how low ranked they are. The program is now the laughing stock of college football, all programs have down years and drop a few games, it happens, but they don't lose to the "cupcakes" that they pay to come play them.

Top all that off with where it matters, a 5-7 bowl record, with losses in the last 4 consecutive. Now you see where he has lost his "touch" with the game, it's not just Tressel that's figured him out it's everyone. He hasn't adapted or changed, he's sticking with the same "Michigan Football" gameplan and that's over and done with.

Put a fork in the dude, he's done.
