Cheer up Nute.

The Tiger defense holds Oregon to 17, and the Tigers win with a strong north south running game, three turnovers, and a punt return for a TD.

Well, it was a non-offensive TD anyway....and if you hadn't allowed that late, two minutes left 4th qtr charity TD - I would have been only 3 points off. :pissed:

the plot thickens
Jefferson's attorneys, Lewis and Lance Unglesby, have said repeatedly there is not enough evidence to support the quarterback's felony arrest which could wipe out the LSU star's senior season. They said Friday that the contents of the affidavit further back up that assertion.
The affidavit says "some of the witnesses" to the fight identified Jefferson and Johns as aggressors, but does not name any of the witnesses.
"You have an anonymous accusation with a denial by the accused," Lewis Unglesby said. "Search warrants are supposed to have specificity as to what legitimate reason there is to believe a person has evidence that police are entitled to seize, and what is the credibility of the individuals making the accusations, and this has none of that.

what i found interesting...

Meanwhile, authorities have said another man involved in the fight had three fractured vertebrae. Attorney Michael Bienvenu, who represents that man, said no one has been arrested for his injuries.

Gator, maybe you can help me out here.
When does misdemeanor simple battery become felony 2nd degree battery?

all this time, i was under the impression that they got 2nd degree battery for the guy with fractured vertebrae, not the guy with the fat lip.

but according to this article, no one has been arrested for the cracked vertebrae guy.

if the marine drove himself to the hospital and was already home when police called his residence 4 hours later (as reported), seems like his injuries wouldn't be serious enough for felony charges.

better question is this.
Why hasn't anyone been arrested for the guy who is more seriously injured?

Kinda seems like that would be the more serious crime and deserving the most attention.

Jefferson is now only facing misdemeanor charges, and Johns has been cleared.

Grand jury reduces LSU's Jefferson charge, clears Johns

BATON ROUGE, La. -- A grand jury reduced charges against Jordan Jefferson to a misdemeanor for his involvement in a bar fight and the LSU quarterback's attorney said his suspension from the top-ranked Tigers has been lifted.

Jefferson is now charged with simple battery and faces maximum penalties, if convicted, of up to six months in jail and fines up to $500.

His attorney, Lewis Unglesby, said after the decision on Wednesday evening that his client "will never be convicted" if the case goes to trial.

"There's no evidence beyond a reasonable doubt to even think about it," Unglesby said. "The grand jury's standard is much lower than a reasonable doubt, so I guess they thought they met that standard by virtue of an accusation. That's a sad thing."

Jefferson and reserve linebacker Josh Johns were initially booked with felony second-degree battery in the Aug. 19 fight. The grand jury decided Wednesday there was not enough evidence to bring any charges against Johns. Four men sought treatment at hospitals after the brawl. LSU confirmed Wednesday night that the players had been reinstated and "will rejoin the team and begin practice immediately."

"We certainly don't condone participation in the incident, but the legal system has determined that their actions did not rise to the level originally charged, and their punishment to date related to football has already been considerable," Joe Alleva, vice chancellor and director of athletics said in a statement.

First assistant district attorney Prem Burns said the grand jury, which met for a full day Wednesday and another day a week earlier, saw video evidence taken from surveillance cameras and cell phones, and heard testimony from an undisclosed number of witnesses.

LSU sophomores Spencer Ware and Tyrann Mathieu will be suspended for Saturday's game against Auburn after reportedly failing a drug test, a source told The Daily Reveille on Wednesday.
The suspensions could turn into multiple-game suspensions as well.

Michael Bonnette, LSU's Associate Athletics Director and Sports Information Director, did not comment on the matter, but neither confirmed nor denied the reports, saying he will speak with LSU coach Les Miles this afternoon.
Ware is the Tigers' starting running back and has gained 512 yards as part of a dynamic LSU rushing attack.
Mathieu has garnered widespread Heisman hype after forcing six turnovers and scoring two touchdowns on defense and special teams this season.

There are rumors of a 3rd player involved as well... Les is having a press conference at 6.
