Les Miles (grass eater)

Just for clarification most of the video I thought was a little BS. But some plays were ridiculous. No, I didn't lose all respect when Carpenter choked the Whisky QB.
But 1) JT has a track record of being classy. Miles has a track record of the opposite
2) Those were all clips from ONE game!
3) A bunch of those facemasks, and that spearing play, were DEFINITELY much worse than carpenters choke.

It was not Bobby Carpenter who "choked" anyone. Robert Reynolds is the name you're looking for.

Sorry, have to disagree with you there...
YouTube - LSU FOOTBALL 101

After watching that video, and especially the completely, completely ridiculous clip of that guy spearing the guy on the ground... I lost every bit of respect for Miles. If I were a coach there is ABSOLUTELY no way I would let my players do something that blatant and flat-out terrible. That's the kind of play that ends careers and more. Complete bullshit. I have more respect for Mike Vick than Les Miles.

Isn't this the game in which Dorsey was injured by a vicious chop block, straight at his right knee? Depending on when that took place it could either be revenge for LSU's style of play or the cause of it.

Like others, I'm wondering what it's going to take before the refs start calling spearing again. It's dangerous for the person being hit and the person doing the hitting, often the source of severe neck injuries.

I just hope they don't get carried away with the call like they did a few years ago.

Let's be clear about something: Spearing is using the crown of the helmet. Hitting someone with your facemask first is not only not spearing, it is (as Spielman would say) how you're supposed to teach kids to tackle. And #36 did say it, over and over, during the season when spearing was being called on every good tackle, college and pro (or so it seemed).

There are a lot of things Refs need to start calling again (holding, offensive PI...) and spearing is one of them. But we were too far in the other direction not very long ago.

No that was Auburn.....this video was made a week or two before that game occurred....

I'll just be glad for them to get consistent on holding and Pass interference.....

right now i honestly wish that i had paid more attention to the lead up to the alamo bowl in 2004. i think we were 13 point underdogs in that game, so something had to have happened that miles didn't understand or prepare for. i mean, i realize teddy played a great game and zwick played one of the more solid games of his career, but wasn't the okie state run defense supposed to be really good? and then lydell of all people ran up 99 or 100 on em? :!
