Les Miles (grass eater)

I'm not 100% sure this thing is over with M*ch*gan and Miles.. he hasn't agreed to anything yet, seems to dodge the direct questions, and yestrday the reports were Miles isn't signing anything until after the bowl game... time will tell. He very well may stay, but I think he very well may leave too.

i have a feeling that if he loses on Jan. 7th, he'll go north; with or without a new contract or a buy-out clause.

On ESPN, Angelique Chengelis (The Dtetroit News) said that she talked to the agent for Les Miles yesterday, and the agent told her that he expected Les to sign the contract before the BCS title game. The contract is supposedly being presented to LSU's board of chancellors for their approval this week.

NO. 1 OHIO STATE VS. NO. 2 LSU BCS Championship, Jan. 7, 8 p.m., New Orleans Superdome, WJW Ch. 8

LSU football coach Les Miles of Elyria, who will face the Ohio State Buckeyes, is an Ohio native but a Michigan man

Tuesday, December 11, 2007 Story by Jodie Valade

Plain Dealer Reporter

It's not as if Les Miles hates all things Ohio. Honest.
The Louisiana State University football coach grew up in Elyria, earned dis tinction as a gritty, hard-nosed football player at Elyria High School, was spotted there as an undersized talent and was given his first chance by the Ohio-born man he grew to admire more than any other in the football world.
Some of his closest friends still live in Elyria.

College football
Louisiana State coach doth protest too much Les Miles vehemently denies jump to Michigan, but honorable thing is to go now, not after BCS
Published on Wednesday, Dec 12, 2007

Something's rotten in Baton Rouge and Ann Arbor. (Ohio State fans would argue that's a given with the latter.)
But something particularly malodorous is wafting from that place up north. For those who missed it, the Detroit Free Press reported Tuesday that the University of Michigan and Louisiana State football coach Les Miles had spoken about the Wolverines' coaching slot Lloyd Carr vacated last month.
Normally, no one would have a problem with a guy looking to switch employers. However, after ESPN's Kirk Herbstreit broke the news that Miles would be selected as Michigan's next coach, Miles held a news conference vehemently denying it.

LSU's Miles still denying Michigan reports
UPDATE: 1:18 AM, Wednesday, December 12, 2007
BY Todd Porter
REPOSITORY SPORTS WRITER

With about a month before the national championship game, Michigan could get more miles out of its coaching search. The Wolverines just may get Les Miles

If the LSU head coach thought the Michigan vacancy was a distraction before, wait until he gets to New Orleans. Before the SEC Championship game Dec. 1 against Tennessee, Miles angrily denied an ESPN report that he would be the next Michigan head coach.

Guess what? Miles is still denying reports.

If the first of the year passes and Michigan is still searching, the issue could become a distraction for Miles as he prepares his team to play Ohio State in the BCS title game Jan. 7.

LSU's Miles relieved Wolverines have a coach ? and it's not him

By Kyle Nagel

BATON ROUGE, La. ? ? Before Louisiana State University coach Les Miles opened his news conference to questions on Monday, he finished his opening comments with a line that drew laughs from reporters.
"I'm also happy, to be honest with you, that Michigan has picked a quality coach," Miles said.
Miles, whose team will face Ohio State in the BCS championship game on Jan. 7, had been rumored as destined for the Wolverines job even before Lloyd Carr announced his retirement on Nov. 19. He held an impromptu press conference before the Southeastern Conference championship game to announce he was staying at LSU, but his name was linked to the job up to last week, when it was reported he spoke on the phone with the Michigan president and athletic director.

LSU's Miles content to stay off coaching carousel

Tuesday, December 18, 2007 5:28 AM
By Tim May

THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
BATON ROUGE, La. -- Jacob Hester believed his coach. Deep down, the Louisiana State running back said, he knew Les Miles wasn't lying when he said he was not leaving for Michigan before or after the Jan. 7 national championship game against Ohio State. Still, there is nothing like corroborating evidence. First, Rich Rodriguez announced he was leaving West Virginia to take the Michigan job. Then yesterday in a televised news conference, Michigan introduced its new coach, with Rodriguez standing where predecessor Lloyd Carr stood a month ago to announce his retirement.
"I saw it, just because I am a SportsCenter fiend," Hester said. "I knew coach Miles wasn't going anywhere because he's told me repeated times. ? But it was kind of fun to see the carousel. Every day it was something new."

Miles has conquered 6 Crystal Trophy-winning coaches thus far in his Head Coaching career:

- Stoops
- Coker
- Spurrier
- Saban
- Fulmer
- Meyer

If Miles beats Tressel, that'll be 7. He may not be as dumb as people think...
