Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

Where did anybody say he sucks? I still say he's the most talented basketball player in the league. Probably the best I've seen. What people are taking issue with is the way he handled himself throughout this entire process making the fans that loved him for seven plus years feel like there was a chance he was coming back when it's becoming more and more clear that the three of them have been planning this for years. And go back and read the Cavs threads, many of us called him on his shortcomings even when we felt he might still be returning. He is what he is...a player that doesn't feel he can win championships on his own so he took the path of least resistence. If he would have been straight up all along, there wouldn't be THIS big an outcry. I mean seriously, could you ever see Jordan leaving the Bulls to join forces with Isiah? Bird joining up with Magic? No. Because they thrived on competition. It's pretty clear LeBron doesn't have that same trait. It honestly doesn't bother me he ended up in Miami, I have no animosity towards the Heat. I'd rather he end there than Chicago or NY, but the way he did it and the fact that I fell for his bullshit is what pisses me off. Add on to that the fact that the body language he exhibited in the Boston series now looks a lot different in retrospect and he becomes a pretty loathsome character.
Sorry to hear you were born blind, but I'm glad it cleared up for you some time after 1998.

I understand Cavs fans being pissed off that he left. But seeing them now pick apart his stats to basically say he "tanked" the playoffs and really wasn't that good doesn't make sense to me. If he sucks, why did you even want him back?

From watching him play for 7 years most of us could tell with our eyes that he wasn't playing with the fire that he usually plays with. I blamed the elbow at the time, but I would love to know the real story. He lost his ability to shoot and the Celtics did a good job of making it hard to go to the hoop. I put a lot of blame on Mike Brown for not putting good matchups on the floor, but Lebron was missing shots and dribbling off his leg like I have never seen out of him. He seemed to realize that he didn't have it and didn't put in any effort in a couple of the Celtics games. He did give effort in game 6 until the last 2 minutes where he literally quit and accepted the loss. He still didn't have his shot and was turning the ball over all over the place in game 6, but he did play hard for the most part.

Well, there were a lot of blind folks out there...he talked a good game, had the "Ohio boy" thing going for him and preached loyalty. In the end, we were all duped. Chalk it up as a learning experience...never trust a professional athlete. Especially one led around by his sycophantic posse.

on that note......I have to seriously doubt Jordan would be Jordan if he played in today's age.

IMO, not really picking it apart as much as re-hashing the same numbers that were picked apart two months ago. The discussion of his play was far more in-depth then than it is now.

To me, the difference between then and now is that he no longer deserves the benefit of the doubt as to why he played so poorly.

Wow what a hero.... why are you so emotionally involved in this that you came on a forum (in a thread) and feel the need to defend Lebron?

I wasn't emotionally involved (until the reaction to my post), I was intellectually intrigued. I only get emotional about Buckeye sports, not pro sports.

As to why I came on the board in the first place: I get bored during the summer. Once the fall semester starts, I'll probably just read the OSU pages.

My problem is that I link this to all that is anti Ohio which from my perspective there is alot of..... NBA is low on my radar but this is an oppertunity to kick this state for some.

As this all sinks in I do not feel like Lebron is totally comfortable with his decision I would be willing to bet he is dealing with some depression and paranoia (of those around him) unless he is totally insulated and stupid. His body language tells me otherwise. He will get over this eventually but right now I garauntee he is restless.

I'm sorry for coming across like I was kicking Ohio. That wasn't at all my intention, but I see now that that's how my comments read. (I'm originally from NW Ohio, and hope to go to grad school at tOSU.) I was just trying to understand why all the anger and communicate that the decision was understandable.

I think you're right - he probably hasn't slept well since the announcement. I'm starting my tenth and final year in my job, and I'm dreading the last month when word gets out that I'm leaving.

While I don't doubt he's feeling uneasy or second guessing himself (even if he says that Gilberts comments make him realize this was the right move) I know he'll never admit to it. He's going to put on that big smile and act like nothing is wrong in his world to everyone. But, when I think about it for a second who knows, maybe he isn't uneasy or second guessing or feeling remorseful...I mean he's fooled us all already with who he really is.
