Lebron James (Los Angeles Lakers)

I dont think long run it will effect his play. He knew himself enough that he needed a father figure on the court to protect him (D Wade). He will play well knowing he doesnt have to do it on his own. Some people are wired to want to do it themselves some are wired to please others he is the latter. They will win and I gaurantee by football season I will no longer give a flying fuck.

he won't care at that point. he'll be more like garnet by then.

if the majority of people are hating you and calling you a punk, you have two options. be really sorry and beg for forgiveness, or play the role of a punk.

Although there's -zero chance of getting a whole arena full of people to cooperate, I seriously believe the far, far creepier & unsettling thing would be to greet his introduction on the court with stone cold silence. Not a whisper. He'd be prepared for boos & jeers, would have steeled himself for it--but that? As if he were invisible. As if he wasn't even worth the effort.

Sources: LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh sign with Miami Heat for $15M less each - ESPN

He signed a contract worth $110.1 million, reported to be $15 million less than the max. That means he actually signed for 88% of the max deal. Unless the Ohio Income Tax is 12%, he took less money. All three of them did. According to the Ohio government website, the highest tax bracket (over $200K) is 6.24%.

By the way, you guys in Ohio get sort of screwed by your tax structure. Income tax and estate tax are two that we don't have in Florida. Aside from property taxes, Florida's tax structure is better in every way. Unless you're poor. (We make up the difference in sales tax, which is regressive.)

While searching for details of the contracts, I found this article which makes me understand a little better why Cleveland is feeling more betrayed than seems reasonable. The author goes all the way back to Lebron's high school days.

Fooled by a 'different' LeBron James? You're not the only one: Terry Pluto | cleveland.com

i believe it actually is in the high 6s, like 6.875% as some of the tax cuts are not being implemented/delayed for various reasons. this applies to all income, not just his nba contracts. using his 2007 numbers he made approx 28m in endorsements. SI.com - The Fortunate 50 that puts his numbers (assuming he hasnt made more money on endorsements) and makes the "savings" evaporate. then you weight the property, school, sales, other taxes and likely may offset some of that, but the 3m or so he pays in taxes does not help the situation at all.

In the early 1990s, Ohio was the home of 43 Fortune 500 companies. Twenty years later the number is 24. Census Bureau data show that from 2004 to 2008 Ohio saw a net outmigration of $6 billion of income and some 97,000 taxpayers. Even Ohio's famously liberal senator, the late Howard Metzenbaum, moved to Florida late in his life to reduce his estate taxes.

Athlete has found friendlier tax climate | The Columbus Dispatch

beat around the bush how you want but 5 or 6m less of taxes over the basketball part of the contract and close to 15m (or more with increasing endorsements) makes a huge difference. while it surely is not the only reason, like many other large companies, small business, new ventures, entrepreneurs- it cannot, and should not be ignored.

b) a guy leaving a team with a literal mother f-er (anybody who wouldn't kill if a buddy did this?)
Kill who? There was nothing alleged to be non-consensual about that circumstance, hence there is equal blame, if any at all. Wasn't Mommy a free agent, too? Maybe it was sunnier in the teammates' bedroom. (It sure had to be more youthful--by what?--15-16 years, at least?)

"Hey D-Wade - you want me to get you some coffee? How 'bout a bagel? I can shine your shoes. Just let me look at your ring."

On the plus side for me, I won't have to waste any lighter fluid to start my backyard bonfire this weekend. Just throw this fucker under a couple logs and light a match and I'm all set.

LeBron should be embarrassed to be a wing-man in any photo-shoot. Can you just imagine Michael Jordan and Charles Barkely flanking Magic Johnson?? It just doesn't make any sense to me...how much does a title mean to you, when you've essentially rigged the NBA?

This...

Maybe it is me, maybe kids these days really are different, or maybe times have just changed in general but I could NEVER, not in a million years, see Jordan shoved out of a photo like that. I couldn't see Larry Bird like that.

I think Terry Pluto hit it on the head. LeBron is reliving his glory days--[censored]ing high school! He gave up his legacy to be the greatest of all-time to have fun with friends. How [censored]ing backwards and ignorant is that? How many terrible ass movies do you see nowadays that depict the aged high school friends ditching their lives for a period of time to relive the past and how awful does it always end up? Can you imagine if you were the most skilled heart surgeon in the world and you left a hospital as the premiere surgeon that the entire state came to for help so you could be around a couple of hacks that weren't as skilled as you but were respected in the field so your work load was lower and you could joke around and have fun? I agree that some people take things way too seriously in terms of careers and jobs, but there is certainly something to be said about not taking things serious enough. More importantly, not taking the consequences of your actions in to consideration. Don't feed me some [censored] about how he is not selfish because he took less money. I think we're pounding salt there. He is still a selfish dick because he gave up the legacy, the promises, all of it because the pressure was too much and he just wants to have fun. That is cowardly, it is weak, and I'm probably more embarrassed at my own inability to have seen this coming all along than I am to have thought the world of him as "our guy."

1-who already gave the heat 7 titles besides d wade?
2-imo nothing wrong with playing robin, winning is winning. in an era when people are accused of being sell outs, i guess he didnt.

however, the most interesting points were made by speils yesterday during his radio show basically saying that he thinks when lebron is home in a dark room hes scared. to add to that his gods very fair, or something like that analogy basically computed it to lebron is probably the best athlete since bo jackson, however has little to no killer instinct and/or leadership qualities. very interesting stuff. im sure there is a podcast out there on it.

Look at every picture of these guys. He who shan't be named went from being "the chosen one" to DWade's sidekick. Congrats on going from, arguably, the best player in the nba to the guy in the background. Now go get your shinebox, douchebag.

A picture says a thousand words IMO. The big winners here are DWade and Bosh, look at those shit eating grins. LeBron, half-assed fake smile. Almost as believable as his acting on the court. "Durrrr, did I fuck up?"

Agreed, but look at how short LeBronze looks... barely taller than Wade, way shorter than Bosh... that says it all to me..
